To Whom It May Concern:
My wife and I are moving to Arizona so that we might help in the care of her
father who suffers from advancing Parkinson’s. It is our intension to live near
the Gilbert area to stay available for whatever need he may have. I am interested
in acquiring a telecommuting position in a Technical Support team. Attached is an
updated copy of my resume. Please accept these pages as application for any such
position which you feel I may qualify.
Due to the grand exodus of technology positions from the Central Florida area I
have found it necessary to take work where I could find it and have worked at our
local 7-Eleven for the last few years. This has certainly tested my Customer
Relations ability, but I have had occasional computer consulting work come my
way. Unfortunately not frequent enough to make a full-time income. Still I have
kept myself familiar with the industry in which I am educated and experienced
through self study and maintaining our home office network.
Our present SOHO configuration consist of a multi platform eight computer
network. My personal workstation consist of one Apple PowerMac, one intel P4 dual
booting Windows XP and Suse Linux 10.3, and one LinkSys Network Attached Storage
Server (NAS200) with mirrored 500GB SATA drives. These three boxes are connected
via a D-Link gigaswitch acting also as an extension to our LinkSys router.
Connected to the router are twin dual P2 boxes running Suse 9.2 Linux as mirrored
servers, twin P3 boxes also running Suse Linux 9.2 as firewall and www servers,
and one more box running Windows 98SE used for testing and controlling an EPROM
programmer. Number eight would be my wife’s iBook which has network access
through the wireless connection on the router. The router then provides DHCP and
internet access to the entire network. I have built all the non-Apple computers
in our network and maintain or modify all computers as need may arise.
Thank you in advance for the time you may take from your busy schedule on my
behalf. I look forward to speaking to you soon.
Sincerely,

Greg S. Swallow
