apply to the registered nursing programs at City College at San Francisco,
College at San Mateo, and De Anza College. Because or the highly competitive
nature of gaining admission to a registered nursing program, in the San Francisco
bay area, I qualified myself at these three different schools (all with slightly
different prerequisite requirements}. City College of San Francisco was the first
nursing program to offer me admission.

PACIFIC BELL DIRECTORY: Advertising Consultant (sales rep) for Pacific Bell
Directory. Position involved selling yellow pages advertising in northern
California, including sales client proposals, layouts and graphics, computer
coding for data entry, and computer generated ad layouts. Accomplishments: Sold
over $420,000 worth of advertising in six months.

APRIL 1990 TILL SEPTEMBER 1990
VISUCOM PRODUCTIONS: Media Consultant (sales rep.) and Marketing Advisor for
Visucom Productions, Position involved selling videotape-based programs for
client training in occupational health, safety, management, and staff
development. Duties included sales, service, and formulating marketing plans for
sales to corporations and the government. Accomplishments: The highest sales
performer in the company for three months, selling 20-30 percent more than all
other sales reps.

AUGUST 1987 TILL APRIL 1990
NATIONAL CINEMA NETWORK (NCN): Senior Marketing Rep (sales rep) for National
Cinema Network (NCN). Position involved selling and managing the “Cinema
Billboard” advertising for 74 movie theater screens in Northern California and
Seattle/Tacoma, WA areas. Position included selling contracts for local,
regional, and national clients to advertise on screen at movie theaters. Duties
also included managing the operations at the Cinema Billboard program at these
theaters, The Cinema Billboard program was available at over 2200 movie theatre
screens nationwide. Accomplishments: Sold an average of $200,000 worth of
advertising per year, in addition to managing the Cinema Billboard program on 74,
movie theater screens in my territory.

NOVEMBER 1986 TILL JUNE 1987
AMERICAN DIRECTORY COMPANY: Advertising Sales Rep for American Directory
Company. The position involved selling and servicing yellow pages advertising
clients. American Directory was one at the largest “independent” (non-Bell
System) yellow pages publishers in the U.S. Job duties included telemarketing,
coding and processing computer entry forms, creating ad proposals, layouts,
graphics, and account collections. Accomplishments: Sales in the top ten percent
at all sales reps, consistently.

APRIL 1982 TILL SEPTEMBER 1986
D’ELEGANCE CORP. & J.F.R. ENTERPRISES: Account Sale Executive and eventually
Vice-President at D’Elegance Corp. D’Elegance and J.F.R, were two related
companies that specialized in publishing advertising for restaurant,
entertainment, and leisure/travel related clients. Both D’Elegance and J.F.R.
published highly popular discount coupon books under the brand names “City Lites”
(in Seattle, WA) and “HiLites” (in San Jose, CA). Because at my success as a
sales rep for City Lites (in Seattle) I was asked to manage a new publication,
HiLites (in San Jose). I was eventually promoted to vice-president at D’Elegance,
which published HiLites. Accomplishments: As a sales rep for City Lites, in my
first year, I personally signed up over 300 new advertisers and set up over 200
independent distribution groups for City Lites coupon books, As a result of this
success with City Lites I was asked to manage a new publication, HiLites, in San
Jose, CA. For the HiLites book, in the first year, I signed up over 400 new
advertisers, and set up over 200 independent distribution groups for HiLites
books. I also supervised and managed all aspects of book production, sales staff
training, and recruitment, as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the
HiLites office in San Jose, CA. Eventually, HiLites was sold to a competitor,
Entertainment Publications Inc. Entertainment is the largest coupon book
publisher in the United States, with (at that time) over $80,000,000 in sales
worldwide. I was instrumental in facilitating the sale of HiLites to
Entertainment Publications Inc.
