Director, Product Engineering and Development
n Led team of between 4 and 16 people in the development of one of the most
powerful operating system control environments available on the market today.
Learn then Play provides a substantial framework for complete control over the
Windows environment including complete control over the Windows 6 and 7 UAC
system. Work included development of low level services, complex GUI components,
low level operating system control components as well as Internet based
communication systems. Learn then Play is likely the most comprehensive software
system to provide complete control, direct and remote, over virtually every
aspect of Windows. The system includes its own complex desktop that provides a
complete learning environment free from interruptions and distractions.
n As the prirmary engineer and development lead for this project, I worked
extensively in Visual C++ for low level components and classes. The GUI
components were developed in Visual Basic and Visual C++. I have extensive
knowledge of Windows security including advanced knowledge and understanding of
ACLS, DACLS (and all related ACE areas), extensive knowledge of the Windows
registry, API and advanced understanding of UAC, elevation and the entire
elevation subsystem. My work included direct development of components to manage
kernel level services and background operations. Extensive work with GINA in
Windows XP, userinit in Windows XP through Windows 7 as well as logonui in the
latter two. Extensive work in Windows 7 Beta and prerelease editions.
Development of services, service level subcomonpents, control services and
service related subsystems.
n My work included development of low level drivers and “root kit” like
components to prevent hacking and interference with the Learn then Play software.
Extensive understanding of WMI and WMI access, control and programming.
Extensive interception work including API interception, anti-virus detection
prevention, antivirus and antispyware takeover and control (including disabling,
taking control of and fully managing Windows Defender, Symantec Norton 360
through the Beta Version for Windows 7, McAfee (various versions), Avast, Aluria,
Computer Associates and many others. Work also included development of Winsock
intercept components to intercept and control communications on a low level
basis. Extensive understanding of Windows messaging, message handling,
interception (advanced hook and subclassing) and advanced work in the area of GUI
management including development of skins, components and shell directives.
n Advanced C++ (6.0), Visual Basic (6.0), Visual C# (7.1, 8.0), JavaScript,
HTML, .NET Framework (including framework GAC automation, control and updating).
2002-2004 Leap Solutions, Inc. Las Vegas, NV
Director, Product Development
n Leap Solutions, Inc. was a leader in the development of healthcare related
regulatory compliance software. Leap developed one of the first compliance
management systems for the healthcare industry. As the director of product
development, I designed, managed and directed the development of the industry
leading Leap Enterprise Compliance Manager (ECM).
n At one point, the Leap ECM processed and managed over 20,000,000 patient
“lives” on an aggregate basis for organizations including, but not limited to,
Pharmerica, a division of AmeriSource-Bergen, one of the nation’s largest
companies with nearly 60 billion in revenues in 2004, UMC Southern Nevada, the
leading trauma center in Nevada, Children’s Hospital Ohio, Banner Healthcare
System, one of the largest healthcare organizations in the United States, Molina
Healthcare, a billion dollar leading healthcare insurance organization based in
Southern California as well as a number of smaller healthcare providers
throughout the United States. The City of Phoenix, Arizona uses the ECM not only
to manage the Phoenix Fire Department’s health center HIPAA related regulatory
compliance matters, but also to manage virtually all aspects of its electronic
medical records.
n I developed the ECM in Visual C# and was the primary architect of the ECM
central system. I developed all of the central ECM modules with a team of three
(3) engineers and designed the ECM to allow for the integration of virtually any
type of module, including the later developed complete Patient Management and
Electronic Medical record now used by the City of Phoenix, Arizona.
n Working included, but was not limited to, complete lifecycle management for
the Leap software products. Because I am an attorney with extensive healthcare
knowledge and experience, I was also given the responsibility to speak to large
groups of physicians and other healthcare providers on a nationwide basis. I
spoke to groups of as few as 5 to as many as 1,000+ people all around the United
States in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
2000-2002 SearchPerfect - Headway New York, NY
Manager, Product Development
n Managed the development of the SearchPerfect Human Resource Management system
on a contract basis for Headway Corporate Staffing Services. Headway, based in
New York, operated human resource and staffing operations throughout the United
States. As the “inventor” and developer of the original SearchPerfect system for
human resources, I was brought on to take the very successful SearchPerfect
system, then in use for over 8 years at the Newport Beach office of Headway, and
integerate that product for use throughout the United States. Successful
development concluded in late 2001 following the September 11th terrorist attacks
in New York City. Because of the terrorist events, Headway suffered substantial
losses and was later taken over by its creditors. I left the company in
February, 2002 following significant losses and issues and after delivering the
SearchPerfect system to Headway.
1996-1999 Spacelabs Medical, Inc. Redmond, WA
Manager, Product Development
n Spacelabs was a leading manufacturer of equipment for hospitals. Spacelabs
participated in the original development of equipment used to monitor astronauts
on space missions for NASA. I led the teams developing the Emergency Chart,
Operating Department management systems and general patient management software
system development areas. Responsibilities included work in Visual Foxpro,
Visual Basic, Visual C++ and other languages. Management responsibilities
including managing many team members, development of Statement of Work (Phase 1
SOW through Phase 3 SOW), development of Functional Requirement Specifications,
software development lifecycle planning, Human Design Inteface specifications,
test plan (black and white box for products/components), interface development
(HL7 and others), Technical Review Board presentations, approval, revisions,
Product Revision Requests and management, complete documentation responsibilities
and responsibility for interfacing with the Implementation Team as well as the
Technical Writing division of the company. Spacelabs employed approximately
1,500 people and generated between 400-600 million per year in revenues.
