Clerk Typist III / Student Management
Provided administrative clerical support for the department of Student
Management. Responded to calls from parents and the community; used a hand held
radio to communicate with administrators and campus security; handled data entry,
communications, deadlines, constant interruptions and volatile situations in an
efficient, calm and professional manor.
Before began position all was still written by hand and very little of the job
was done on the computer. When started the position took initiative and
immediately converted everything to computer and was able to expand the duties of
the title. Entered and filed daily incident/discipline reports, compiled and
coordinated various daily detention and suspension lists which changed hour by
hour. Monitored and kept order and discipline of all students on in-school
suspension, lunch and after school detention. This was done with strict rules,
consistency and fairness for all students, high expectations, yet always with
respect, kindness and realizing not one size fits all. Ordered school work for
all in-school and out of school suspended students. Kept track of assignments for
in-school suspended students. Tracked time served of all students suspended out
of school or expelled. Typed, distributed, mailed, and filed all correspondence.
Responsible for all pre-expulsion and expulsion letters which included
researching the school board codes and making sure all was exactly correct since
these documents could be used in hearings. Compiled quarterly, semester and
yearly comparative discipline reports to be distributed to all administrators and
the superintendent and were used during administrative district meetings.
Responsible for all student parking applications, entered them into excel and
therefore able to assist in tracking down students for campus security regarding
parking and safety violations and able to assist the law enforcement assigned to
our school regarding driving violations. Screened all guest dance passes for
possible security risks and appropriate age range, typed and copied the approved
list and made sure it was delivered to the appropriate personnel. This was in
addition to regular duties, very time consuming and demanded very efficient time
management. Assisted the Attendance office with students who were sent out of
class regarding unexcused absences. This included calling parents and if the
absence could not be excused assigning detention. In charge of the end of year
locker clean-out and assigning all school faculty their duties in this matter.
Was the communication hub of the school for all campus security, administrators,
faculty, students, parents, and community regarding security and discipline
issues. Also took calls regarding general school questions and transferred calls
to the appropriate person.
Assisted the School Resource Officer and Community Service Officer assigned to
our school as well as other police officers and juvenile probation officers with
information and locating students.
Assisted staff with students concerning immediate issues both inside and outside
of the classroom. Many times this may have been just to diffuse a very tense
situation between students or staff and student, assist a staff member to enforce
the dress code. Many other times had to take immediate control, but call the
Discipline Technician or know which administrator to call.
Responsible for the lost and found. Was the skateboard locker and students
signed their skateboards in and out if they could not fit in their personal
locker. Held on to confiscated cell phones and other confiscated items.
