Academic Projects
Distributed grocery store with fully redundant mode server configuration	  
(Fall 2007)
•	Lead a team of 3 to develop the simulated version by altering the source code
of NACHOS environment.      
•	Multithreading was achieved using locks and condition variable. 
•	System was made free of race condition by providing mutual exclusion and
synchronization.
•	 Implemented Message Passing and Remote Procedure Calls [RPC] for a remote
client server paradigm using priority scheduling for customers and clerk

Multi-threaded client server based distributed GRE Server                      
(Fall 2008)
•	A Client Server paradigm capable of interacting any of these client server
combinations: Java Server – Java Client, Java Server – C++ Client, C++ Server –
C++ Client, C++ Server – Java Client.
•	Offers state and stateless services with single or multiple request-reply
protocol services.

Implemented a Distributed Chat Server in Java & C++    	(Fall 2008)
•	Developed a multi-threaded chat room capable of all possible C++ and Java peer
to peer interactions.

Strengthening MD-5 and SHA-1 encryption algorithm           (Spring 2008)
•	Strengthening of hash functions like MD-5 and SHA-1 to make them resilient to
collision attacks through variable- length external message expansion algorithms
like XSA/SA.  

Academic Laboratory Research 
•	Configured networking on CISCO 4000, CISCO 7000 routers and LINUX workstations
to formulate and test network design alternatives to resolve “BGP convergence
problem” during inter autonomous system     routing. Used Zebra to implement BGP,
OSPF and RIP protocols.
•	Packet level analysis of isolation properties of different queuing disciplines
(FIFO and RED). Analysed TCP on a representative traffic mix of long and short
flows. ‘Packit’ was used to create IP traffic on the network.
•	In-depth study of ISP techniques like Blackhole, Sinkhole and Traceback to
combat DDOS attacks on the servers and implemented a topology to realize the
above techniques and tested for various level of DDOS attacks.
