• Plan, design and build test labs and test teams for software and hardware
testing of TCP/ IP, VPNs, Firewalls, SONET,Routers/Bridges for LAN and WAN.
• Trained and built LAN/WAN support and test organizations for small to
mid-sized companies in the US, India, and China.
• Developed and executed performance testing for Internet Monitoring tools,
JAVA-based NMS systems, as well as switches/routers (Layer 2/3) and applications
(Layer 4/7) using http, smpt and video-based tools.
• Extensive Firewall and VPN testing experience.
• Developed tcl automation scripts using Agilent, Adtech, Ixia ,ANVL, Shenick
• Developed and executed python and Java for performance testing of
client/server Customer Experience Manager tools.
NARUS and CA (1/07 – )
Consultant
Performed testing of Internet monitoring and reporting devices using Agilent
Network tester and Shenick tester. The parameters measured were network metrics
(i.e tcp, http) as well as system metrics (i.e cpu, memory and disk) . Set up lab
with Linux RedHat PC’s, Dell switches (using gig-e links), as well as the above
traffic generators. Created test plans and generated test reports. Worked with
inhouse staff and OEM customers for test plan input, reviews.
At CA planned, built and executed python and Java scripts for CEM performance
testing tools which monitored Linux-based resources such as memory, CPU, disk i/o
etc.
Hammerhead Systems (8/05 – 12/06)
Director SVT
Manage group of 20 test engineers responsible for system test, automation,
interoperability, performance, scaling and conformance testing of ATM, Frame
Relay, Routing, MPLS, VPLS, QoS, Psuedowire and Ethernet Vlans on SONET, GigE,
OC-12, DS3, and OC-48.
• Leveraging 3rd party tools such as Agilent, Spirent, Ixia tools to help with
conformance, simulation, performance and scaling tests.
• Manage offshore India automation and feature testing teams.
• Co-ordinate Beta testing with customers including Tier 1 and 2 carriers
• Co-ordinate external certification testing (UNH) with external test
organizations
Nexthop, Mountain View (3/02 - 7/05)
QA Director
Manage, mentor a group of over 14 test engineers to provide development , system
, performance, interoperability, regression, reliability testing for Core/edge
Routers for MPLS, IS-IS, BGP,Mcast(PIM, IGMP, MSDP, DVMPRP),RIP and OSPF testing
for V4 and V6.
Automated test plans for regression testing and developed release strategies for
major, minor and patch releases.
Built teams and lab from scratch. Provided direction, wrote test strategy and
hands-on direction for testing routing protocols and SNMP, CLI. Built
performance/scalability, interoperability lab for MPLS, IS-IS, BGP,RIP, OSPF,
Mcast and Layer 2 switching to include STP,VLAN, 802.1x, as well as wireless
access.
Alcatel/IDI, Sunnyvale (3/98 – 3/02)
QA manager
• Manage group of 12 testers. Responsible for testing Firewall, VPN, Policy
Manager products. Interoperability with Assured Access and Xylan products.
• Responsible for functional, system, regression, performance and
interoperability tests.
Cisco Systems Inc., Santa Clara (12/94 - 3/98)
Network Consultant
• Provide functional, performance, stress, interoperability and conformance
testing for ATM SBus products (including Solaris and SUN OS) products. The test
bed included Cisco ATM switches and Cisco ATM routers. SUN platforms include
Sparc1000, Sparc20, Sparc5, and Sparc10’s. ATM testing include ATM Sbus driver
testing, signalling and ILMI testing, 1577/VLAN/IP testing as well as
interoperability with FORE and Cisco switches and Cisco 7000 ATM routers.
• Responsible for writing and executing test plans as well as test setup
interface to development, bug tracking.
• Ran ATM performance tests for both ATM switches (latency and stress tests) and
ATM adapters (tcp, ftp, fast pinged). Used Adtech cell generator/analyzer and
Telenex analyzer extensively.
Intel Corporation, Santa Clara (3/93 - 12/94)
Network Consultant
• Responsible for the planning, design, installation and executing of Pilot
evaluation of ATM technology at Intel. Currently, setting up an ATM-based
production network to improve the network performance for CAD-tool users. Have
set-up and tested and evaluated TCP/IP and Video-conferencing over ATM as well as
Ethernet to ATM routing using
• SUN-based routers. Beta testing new generation smart and ATM hubs as well as
ATM to Ethernet Bridges.
• Other accomplishments include setting up tools and packages to monitor a
multiple-segmented 10BAseT LAN running IP, IPX and DECnet. The components include
Synoptics hubs, Cisco routers, SUN servers, Novell servers. The tools include
SunNet Manager, Optivity, Sniffer, RMON Trakker as well as common UNIX networking
tools such as traceroute, netstat, ping and Protocol Analyzers such as Sniffer
