Objective:
To be challenged in a fast paced company that is developing software for the
future.
Work Experience:
July 2007 – Present
OceansEdge – www.oceansedge.biz
Senior Software Engineer
OceansEdge develops a suite of mobile applications across a variety of handsets
(Windows Mobile, BlackBerry, Symbian, J2ME) for National Security purposes. We
have contracts with the FBI, DEA and other law enforcement agencies. I am under
security clearance and can share limited amounts of information.
March 2004 – June 2007
Cenuco – www.cenuco.com
Chief Technology Officer
I came to Cenuco in March 2004. helloNetwork had filed bankruptcy and I sold my
intellectual property of MobileMonitor and became their Chief Technology Officer.
I lead a team of 5 engineers working on advancing MobileMonitor and our other
product lines. MobileMonitor’s core technology was developed by me initially.
It is a set of core pieces that allows you to broadcast a video stream from a USB
web cam or video capture device and view on your mobile device. The broadcaster
pieces are in the form of a Win32 application and/or an embedded Linux device.
Our video gateway servers are Java socket servers that handle the video streams
and the playback software is either a Win32 application, a Java applet embedded
in a web page or the following mobile device platforms, J2ME, Brew, Windows
Mobile, Symbian and Doja i-mode. We are Java Verified, NSTL certified on Brew
and Microsoft certified for the windows mobile platform. I manage all aspects of
our technology direction.
December 2000 – February 2004
helloNetwork.com
Team Lead for Technical Development
helloNetwork.com purchased W-Net in December of 2000. Working as the team lead
on helloNetwork’s personalVideoMail system. A signed java applet that enables
the user to capture, record and send video and audio emails from an ordinary web
based browser, talking through JNI to talk to the Native capture devices. A
separate Java Player applet that is invoked when the receiver of the video mail
views the mail. It detects the users bandwidth and serves up the appropriate
decimated video mail stream. An entire backend utilizing Apache Struts as our
MVC paradigm, using JSP pages, Servlets and Java Beans talking to a MSSQL
database. Was responsible for the architecture of the project, UML design, MS
Project schedules as well as the lead development engineer. Project is deployed
in Japan and is internationalized.
Developed pJava player for Compaq iPaq, Sharp Zaurus and other handheld devices
to show live broadcasts and/or recorded media via wireless network.
Also totally responsible for www.vitafree.com and www.abenergizer.com which are
two companies that utilized my E-Commerce system from W-Net which helloNetwork
now owns as shopHello.
May 1999 – December 2000
W-NET
Chief Technology Officer
Created an E-Commerce system that allows for template based HTML files to
interface with our XML type parsing language to build dynamic web-pages through
our SQL interface. A full E-Commerce solution that is fully customizable. The
administrative backend allows for viewing and/or modifying customers billing and
shipping information, lookup of customers passwords, viewing and/or modifying
customers orders, affiliate program reports, online coupon management, processing
of auction sales, email notifications, adding and/or modifying multiple product
categories, manage product information and reporting that includes Genergal
Stats, Hot Product Sales, Sales Register and Return Merchandise reports. The
system is fully compliant interfacing with our fulfillment vendors through EDI.
We leveraged on-line credit card processing through CyberCash and dynamic UPS
shipping rates via secured socket connections. By separating the Graphical
content of the web site and the processing engine we have enabled our HTML
developers and Graphics Designers to work in parallel.
Also created a HTML proxy agent that would allow consumers to browse any
E-Commerce shopping site on the web and use a common shopping cart for all of the
purchases. This proxy agent manages the shopping experience by always proxying
to our web server first and then serving the content of other commercial
E-Commerce web sites (amazon.com, etoys.com, gap.com) and then taking
full control when a customer adds an item to their basket and redirects the
information to our shopping cart. Our technology at this point walks the user
through purchasing, credit card authorization, and order confirmation for their
order on our web site. We utilize a standard EDI processing schema to interact
with third party companies. Both technologies are scalable solutions. They are
written entirely in PERL using the DBI layer. They support Apache modPerl and
Oracle for faster performance as well as Microsoft IIS and mySql for lower end
sites.
February 1998 – April 1999
K-Tel International
Director of Software Development
Was responsible for creating an e-commerce solution for K-Tel International.
Our web site http://www.ktel.com, is now comprised of mainstream Music, Videos,
DVD’s and Custom CD’s for sale. The web site is made up of three front-end web
application servers and one Sybase backend database server running on Sun Solaris
machines. Our solution also includes a full customer service backend solution to
handle all customer service issues, as well as revenue and campaign reporting
system, processing of customer orders and bulk e-mail program. Our custom CD
system allows the customer to choose any number of songs from our 4,500 song
K-Tel Catalog, personalize the CD by giving it a title and choosing the artwork.
I personally developed around 80% of our existing site today.

May 1997 - February 1998
Hewlett Packard
Sr. Software Engineer
I mostly worked on the Software Distribution module of Norton Administrator for
Networks. This was comprised of our console and client agent pieces. I worked
extensively in-migrating our client agents to NT System services as well as
created an ODBC layer between our proprietary database C-Index which allowed our
customers to use any flavor of reporting tools to access our data. I also did
some extensive work on our replication and site management pieces. These pieces
were used to create a site hierarchy in which multiple installations can be
installed at various sites and replicate the data up the hierarchy tree in which
the top most parent site would have all of the data from its children site.
These pieces work via TCP/IP or direct network connections through various
network protocols.
June 1992 - May 1997
Symantec
Sr. Software Engineer/Development Manager
I pioneered the first Symantec SWAT team. This team was created to allow our
mainstream development team to quickly start working on the next version since
our competition was so fierce in this space. We competed with Microsoft SMS and
Intel’s version of LanDesk. Our team was responsible for working closely with
Symantec’s Sales Force to ensure product reliability as well as enhancing our
feature set to allow the product to be sold over our competitors. I traveled
around 20 times a year for two years while managing this SWAT team. The product
was comprised of over 2 million lines of code and was quite challenging. Our
team was credited multiple times for the successfully completion of multiple
sales into large accounts. We added several new features to enable the sales
force to close a 1 million-dollar deal with Boeing in Seattle. We also added
features for Chrysler as well as fixed problems while on site to close this deal
1.2 million-dollar deal. This position gave me incredible exposure. For the
next 2 years I moved over into the main development team working on the Software
Distribution Module for Norton Administrator for Networks. Other products
included work on Expose a network SNMP management tool, a Help Desk NNL to plug
into our Norton Admin console, and some work on Symantec Basic.
August 1991-June 1992
Quarterdeck Software
Software Engineer
Main duties were to support the DeskView API. We had several vendors that were
writing DeskView aware applications to take advantage of our multi-tasking
product. May main job was to show them our API set and help them develop quickly
and efficiently.
