EXPERIENCE SUMMARY:
Current employer:
I am currently working for CSC, Chennai designated as a QA ENGINEER in a project
named PAYPAL, an eBay company.
Domain:
PayPal is an online gateway payment system, offering security over the internet
for its online shoppers. Merchants and Buyers are linked through PayPal for
highly secured and reliable online shopping. My contribution for the project is
in the Merchant services & financial domain involving transactions using Credit
cards, Bank account funding sources such as iACH, uACH & eCheck, GE funding such
as Buyer credit, PayPal plus card, transactional credit & eBay Master card,
German funding sources such as ELV, mEFT, DE eCheck & iEFT/Giropay and PayPal
balance as the chief funding sources and validation of Auto Sweep functionality &
the various types of Reports.
Features Accomplished:
Settlement withdrawal (Auto sweep) – Worked as feature lead for three of the
projects in this functional area , which is basically moving the funds from a
merchant’s PayPal account to his/her bank account on a daily basis . This project
involves Data ware housing and involves usage of ETL (Extract Transform Load)
mapping functions performed through Informatica & Ab initio and reconciliation of
settlement withdrawal with the corresponding settlement reports.
Quick Draw for settlement withdrawal – Worked as feature lead for this project ,
this is for expanding settlement withdrawal for multiple currencies and
introducing wire mode of withdrawal in addition to the existing ACH out mode.
Clean Sweep – Worked as feature lead for this project and contributed to the
technical design document which is a Development effort, thro my domain expertise
and successfully exited the feature with out any issues and this project fetches
a lot of revenue on production.
Guest Bank checkout with ELV – Worked as the feature lead for this project .This
feature is one of the biggest features for PayPal involving 9 teams across the
organization, with 1400 + lines of codes and till now we raised more than 50
defects, within the initial phases of testing, this is a new opening for PayPal
in the German market and aimed to help out upcoming German projects.
The purpose of the project is to resolve two user pain points that are specific
to German buyers:
• A buyer needs to sign-up for a PayPal account in order to pay for a domestic
transaction via PayPal. Analysis shows that approximately 25 % of the buyers drop
out of the payment flow at the time they are confronted with signing up for an
account.
• A German buyer buying from an international merchant needs a credit card to
complete the transaction (off-eBay; reason: merchant have WAX or ECAO turned on).
At the moment only 30 % of German buyers own a credit card or are willing to use
it online. This results in a 70 % loss of potential buyers.
Batch capture frame work - I,II,III - These features are for the requirement of
performing multiple capture actions at an instant through a secure file transfer
protocol (SFTP) operation to accomplish captures at the end of the day through a
formatted file enclosing the capture requests on the authorizations.
Integration of PayPal with United Airline Travel Plan (UATP) for a unified
solution on Airline products - This project was introduced for the requirement
through which a customer can buy airline tickets online and make payment through
PayPal, an e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfers to be made
through the Internet. The customer initiates a transaction by purchasing airline
tickets through an airline website (for e.g. http://www.nwa.com) and selecting
PayPal as the payment option. The airlines web site then calls PayPal’s APIs
specific to airline product. An order is created in the background while the
PayPal website opens. The customer logs into his PayPal account thereby
confirming his identity. Upon successful authentication of the customer, PayPal
returns a UATP number as an API response to the airline. The airline proceeds
with the transaction as a UATP/PayPal transaction. PayPal authorizes using a set
of APIs again, which we refer to as the Auth API. PayPal creates an approval code
for each successful auth. This approval code is unique for each UATP number.
Settlement is transferred from customer’s PayPal account to UATP’s Settlement
System (USS) on a daily basis. Settlement / capture from PayPal’s side happens as
a batch process at the end of each day.
Global Airlines - Direct solution - These specific requirements identified
relevant to a global airline solution irrespective of integration method. 1.
Direct Solution
Directly from the airline’s own online web reservation system using an extension
of the PayPal Express Checkout APIs...Airlines have indicated that this direct
integration to the PayPal system is their preferred option.
2. Intermediary: PSP i.e. Cyber Source etc.
Through an intermediary such as a PSP. Separate consideration should be given to
services provided by potential PSP partners with regard to airline and travel.
This implementation is outside the direct scope of this document however the
services defined here should suffice for PSP integration. Should we be
approached by a PSP partner then we will offer the direct airline APIs as their
integration approach.
3. GDS (Global Distribution System) i.e. Amadeus
Integration into an airlines reservation system that hosts airline data, for
example Amadeus hosts approximately 60 airlines and Navitaive is the dominant
provider for the low cost sector. Third Party web sites such as Expedia,
Travelocity and Orbitz, are also typically inked with GDS providers as well, for
example Expedia uses Galileo, and Travelocity uses Sabre.
A future phase option is to build an interface with the GDS’s enabling multiple
airlines to deliver transactions through a single interface / implementation.
This will be the scope of a wider Travel solution
Finish capture declines – Contributing to the functional requirements of the
upcoming project where PayPal initiates a better user experience to clean out the
capture declines with Auth/Settle strategy and this functionality is the base
line for the future projects like Lufthansa (LH) Airline and Online Travel Agency
(OTA), which is basically a model to book holiday packages and do split payment
thru PayPal to multiple merchants.
Late capture & multi capture for Paylater funding sources - worked as feature
lead for these projects – This feature is for the requirement of paying thro the
paylater funding sources within/outside Honor periods of the authorizations on a
single Authorization
