Title: Senior Synon Developer/Analyst
Using Full Life Cycle, Cool:2E 7.0, 8.0 and CL, created data warehouse
functionality to
allow visibility and analysis of Nucor’s inventory/backlog information. Batch
reports,
online screens and automatic building/archiving processing were included as part
of this functionality. Built inquiry screens and reports to allow the analysis
of the time trucks spent onsite at Nucor’s facility as well as functionality to
allow the analysis of the time taken to load trucks, rail cars and barges with
inventory by the crews. User manuals documenting all packages functionality for
reference and training purposes were also included as part of the new/enhancement
software as well as group and individual training sessions. Additionally various
existing system modifications including:
o Changes to allow the transfer of material to remote facilities for sale to
customers
o Enabling various reporting information to be sent via the iSeries faxing
software using automatic and manual processes
o Enhancements allowing the capture/validation of customer delivery requirement
information
o The investigation of numerous shipping, sales, production, finance and
inventory control related issues
o On-request modifications of various reports and screens
were provided as solutions for Nucor Steel. Used Softlanding’s Turnover to
install programs to Test and Production. Also made various changes to the
Freight rate system to allow the rates to be applied to shipments based on new
shipping requirements. Built a system to transfer data from the Production As400
to a third party vendor via FTP. Designed, coded and tested functionality to
maintain and track the shipping freight system.
April 1999-October 1999 AON – Innovative Solutions
Title: Senior Synon Developer/Analyst
Designed, developed, tested and installed data warehouse and reporting
functionality required for daily, weekly and month end analysis of credit card
claims for the American Express project using Synon 2E/Cool:2E, RPG and CL.
Worked directly with the users in formatting, analyzing and verifying the data
from these reports. Designed, developed, tested and installed functionality to
transfer data to and receive data from various AMEX vendors electronically.
Modeled, designed, developed, tested, installed and trained users in using
functionality to allow the setup, cancellation, and upgrading of AMEX customers
in various credit card insurance programs.
May 1999 Rocky Mountain Insurance

Designed, wired and networked various devices together for Rocky Mountain
Insurance as well as work with the customer on various networking issues in a
technical support role. Also designed and developed customized software using MS
Access to allow the processing of data from various vendor packages into a format
usable by the customer. This customized package also allows the maintenance,
tracking and reporting of various custom insurance agent related data.

team members in reviewing the output. Developed, documented and instituted
retirement
procedures to archive unused and obsolete software programs identified during
the Y2K
identification phase. Synon CM was used to implement the retirement
procedures.

Designed, coded, tested and implemented a process to capture, track and report
information related to customer long distance carriers. Assembled this
information into a format usable by the long distance carriers to change the
customer’s long distance carrier. Networked the computers located at one of the
telemarketing firms used by Grace Trust together. Served as a mentor to the
Grace Trust staff in working with Microsoft products such as MS Word, MS Excel
and MS Access MS Outlook.
Sept. 1996-Dec. 1997 Ryerson Coil Processing
Title: Synon Developer/Analyst
Using Synon, designed, developed and tested the new purchase order system for
Ryerson Coil Processing. This new system will be one of the first systems in
which the Minneapolis, Iowa and Chicago branches of Ryerson Coil Processing will
share information that resides on their own AS/400’s. Developed, tested and
implemented functionality to allow the maintenance and creation of advanced
shipping notices from vendors that ship material to the business. Checked out,
created requests and installed all enhancements/fixes to the testing, production
and remote AS/400 machines using Synon C/M. Also assisted in maintaining
enhancing Synon C/M. Setup and defined the procedures to use Quadrant Fast Fax
which is used to fax information directly off the AS/400.

In addition to being an AS/400 consultant for ESP-SSI, I technically interviewed
many candidates testing their skills in the areas of the AS/400, RPG, CL, Synon,
Query 400 and SQL giving my recommendations to human resources.
Mar. 1996-Aug. 1996 ELCA Board of Pensions
Title: Senior Synon Developer/Analyst
Documented, designed, developed and tested functionality, using Synon, to
convert information from ELCA’s old AS/400 system to their new AS/400 system.
Created and documented methodology and procedures to convert this data to their
new system. Served as a Synon mentor to existing staff members and calculated
DASD space requirements necessary to convert the old system to their new system.
Jul. 1993-Mar. 1996 Cargill, Inc.
Title: Senior Synon Developer/Analyst
Developed, tested and implemented various bug fixes and enhancements to the
customer account area of CHIPS (Cargill Hybrid Information Processing System)
using Synon. Designed, developed, tested and implemented an interface process to
send divisional information to the corporate mainframe. Created a process to
assess charges automatically, to delinquent customer accounts when payments were
received from the customers. Built functionality into the existing system to
allow the maintenance and tracking of seed sold to customers for “Re-Planting”
purposes. Designed, developed, and tested and implemented numerous bug fixes
and enhancements to the invoicing and discounting modules of the CHIPS system.
Installed all enhancements/fixes using Implementor. Designed the functionality
required to enhance CHIPS to track and maintain “Free Seed” given to customers.
Created a “New Developer” packet which outlined the requirements and procedures
that new team members were expected to follow.
Jun. 1994-Feb. 1995 Ryerson Coil Processing

Using Synon, developed and tested functionality to allow the creation and
maintenance of customer parts. Designed and developed a process to automatically
update the remote AS/400’s with information inputted or changed on the corporate
AS/400. Created a process to allow users to access the corporate AS/400 from
their remote AS/400’s via a “Hot Key”. Also, developed daily sales activity
reports for the management team. Installed all functionality using Implementor.

Performed two weeks as an extra RPG developer due to time constraints on the
project. During this time I developed and tested inventory reports and developed
some inventory maintenance functionality.

Using Synon developed and tested a process to maintain and track miles that
employees accumulated driving company vehicles. Assembled the information on to
various reports, detailing W2 Deductions. Worked on the revision of Northrup
King’s existing dealer settlement process in the financial department. Also
developed inquiry functions for the tests and quality departments.

Developed a program to simulate computer memory management using C. Designed a
customized mailing label system using RPG. Solid understanding of all major
areas of the Synon model environment(s). Worked on the complete redesign of the
computer system for a major firm in Dickinson, ND using Synon. Developed a
system to maintain and track requisitions and bids for the Office of Management
and Budget at the North Dakota state capital using Synon. Designed and coded a
system to manage the key distribution at the state capital. Installed new
operation systems on the AS/400 and applications at the client site.
Aug. 1990-Mar. 1991 Bureau of Land Management ( Internship )
Title: Developer
Encoded maps using the Automated Digitizing System in the GIS section of the
Bureau of Land Management at Dickinson, ND using their graphics entry programs.
Edited digitized graphics files to eliminate errors, registered maps to proper
grid coordinates and converted the corrected digitized data to form usable by
graphics output routines.
