Product manager for a web-based B2B SaaS (Software as a Service) software
certification service and SaaS QA tool offered through Intel. SpikeSource is a
fast-paced, dynamic software startup that provided automated testing services for
Intel Corporation's Software Partner Program.
 * Defined engineering and marketing criteria for the new Intel Certified
Software Program in PRDs and MRDs to address customers' certification
requirements.  Certification subscriptions were subsequently purchased by 150
business customers over the one year lifecycle, SpikeSource's most successful
product to date
 * Determined customer purchase and use criteria, wrote product design
requirements, tracked engineering's progress toward customer need fulfillment.
 * Recommended and implemented marketing messaging for both SaaS products based
on customers' stated needs, requests, and use cases.
 * Used LinkedIn, blogs, analyst research to discover potential customers and
perform market sizing analysis.
 * Interviewed customers to determine product content, pricing, indirect

of operating systems and applications, including Red Hat Software, SUSE LINUX,
Linux Foundation, FreeBSD, and Sun Microsystem's OpenSolaris project
 * Negotiated sponsorships with trade show event coordinators to ensure message
fit at a reasonable cost

with repurposed commodity desktop computers running Linux instead of purchasing
costly new HP/UX Unix servers
 * Wrote additional functionality for Appletalk file server (storage)
application allowing MacOS, Windows, and Linux computers to retain secure file
permissions despite very different conceptual file security models.
 * Reduced maintenance costs by 50% by creating a Linux-based drop-in
replacement for any UNIX file & print server in any campus lab, including writing
Appletalk server features previously unavailable for Linux, and leading a team of
student programmers to migrate other software used for maintenance.
 * Project managed and led a team of 15 volunteer software developers to port
software from HP/UX ksh scripts to Linux Perl scripts to lower maintenance
costs.
