GOAL
Technical or customer support position where my strengths in sales, support,
troubleshooting, and design will be of value.
TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
OWNER - The Computer Detectives, LaQuinta, CA 1/2008-1/2009
• I opened this company after working for other various other technical
employers over the past 10 years and after noticing the lack of reasonable priced
remote computer support offered around the US. I also designed a new UMPC
(Ultra-Mobile PC) that I will be letting customers customize on my website once
it’s up & going (within the next few months).
• I was responsible for designing all of the marketing materials, setting up the
inventory software, entering in new items, and writing all the miscellaneous
letters I needed.
• I also provided remote and on-site support to clients. I helped them with
software problems, hardware upgrades, and a wide variety of other issues.
HELP-DESK TECHNICIAN – Computer Payroll Company, Palm Desert, CA 10/2007-1/2008
• The main purpose of my position was to use GoToAssist to remotely install,
update, and troubleshoot Millennium (payroll software). I used ACT! and Excel
spreadsheets to document each client's status, and to keep their progress
separate, documented, and organized.
• I was responsible for designing several software installation instruction
procedures & checklists to ensure proper software installation and configuration
for future installs. I also designed and maintained an error/solution
spreadsheet to use as a "quick-fix" reference when having the same issue with a
different PC.
• I utilized Millennium’s forums and/or contacted their technical support team
when troubleshooting some of the more complex issues. I was also responsible for
keeping clients and their designated CSR's and Sales Rep's updated on the status
and progress of each installation or troubleshooting session by phone, Email, or
through the remote desktop software’s chat function.
• I also provided in-house tech support for employees having hardware or
software problems.
IBM SERVICE TECHNICIAN – Go2It Group, Lorain, OH 12/2006-8/2007
• I performed rollouts of PCs, networks, and misc. POS equipment in several
cities across the US. I mostly worked by myself and assisted on a few larger
projects with other technicians.
• I was always sent unique installation instructions for each project by Email
days before each rollout. Upon arrival to the project site I inventoried,
installed, configured, and tested all the equipment to ensure proper operation.
COMPUTER INSTALLER – Planet Bingo, Rancho Mirage,CA 11/2004-4/2005
• My primary responsibility was to travel to Bingo Halls and Casinos across the
US and install and integrate a network of modified Dell computers, POS
equipment, handheld devices, and networking equipment with the hall’s
televisions, ball-call machines, and video cameras. I then trained hall
employees how to operate the proprietary POS, Multi-Progressive Bingo, and
One-Touch (automated) Bingo Software.
• At the office I upgraded, configured, and ran extensive tests on the
computers, software, the handheld devices, and all other related equipment to
ensure a seamless install. This included formatting, reinstalling the operating
system (when required), installing necessary hardware and drivers, applying
required software updates & patches, installing and configuring the POS & Gaming
software, configuring the network, and testing everything thoroughly.
• I also assisted the engineers with upgrading and testing the hardware and
software on over 1,000 of Planet’s Handheld Devices (the “PHD’s”). I installed
new antennas, applied anti-static shielding (to prevent shock damage), and tested
every unit.
VIDEOGRAPHER – Circle Take Media, Palm Desert, CA 12/2003-11/2004
• I started with Circle Take as a freelance PC technician. I upgraded memory,
optimized startup items, removing unused software, cleaned up temp files, and
removed spyware on one of their PCs. I was then offered a seasonal position to
setup A/V equipment and video tape special events after the owner noticed my
background in .
• I assisted them with two projects. The first event was a wedding in Indian
Wells, CA where I setup a Canon XL3 Mini-DV camcorder on an EZ FX Jib Arm, and
ran other errands as needed.
• The other event was an International Softball Tournament in Santa Clara, CA.
I video taped the players from different angles while they were playing, and also
video taped a party they threw at a local night club. On the final night I setup
projection equipment and speakers for the presentation banquet.
