Professional Experience

BLC Consulting: Oracle Production DBA (Pfizer).                                 
                        Aug 2006 – Dec 2008
•	Responsible for deploying and managing several large scale global business
critical production application databases (Oracle Clinical, Documentum, LiveLink)
through the complete SDLC (Production to Sandbox ) on Solaris and WinTel
platforms.
•	Managing the Vertias Cluster installation for Oracle 9i Clinical Trials
Database (2 node cluster- 4Tb)
•	Monitoring MV based replication between active and inactive 9i OC Databases.
•	Provide 3rd level support for OPA suite of products, LiveLink and other
critical applications.
•	Oracle Clinical installation consisted of about 14 databases over 3 servers
totaling 30Tb of storage.
•	Part of a team responsible for planning and upgrading OPA-OC from TMS 4.5 to 
TMS 4.6 and RDC 4.5.3, applying the necessary i-Patches under strict change
control and compliance with 21 CFR Part 11.
•	Upgrades of SNOMED, WhoDrug, MedDRA dictionaries and OC integration with
(AERS) Argus and Aris-G products.
•	Review and optimize server based PL/SQL code (Triggers, Stored Procedures) as
well as complex reporting queries (SQL) prior to deployment into production.

Keane Canada: Principal Oracle Consultant (Pfizer).                             
                        Aug 2004 – Jul 2006
•	As part of a “Red Team”, identified and resolved sources of severe application
performance problems. Recommended solutions for database included parameter
changes, indexing techniques and partitioning of large tables, resulting in a
reduction of login times from 2-4 mins to about 5 secs.
•	Lead the project to plan and execute the upgrade of Livelink application and
it’s schema.
•	Work with the application vendor’s development team in optimizing the
application sql queries – resulting in two critical patches. Achieved over 200%
reduction in logical and physical i/o’s to the d/b.
•	Develop executive reports to mine application adoption data across regions and
various time zones.
•	Assist various groups (clinical trial, contracts and outsourcing, regulatory
data) with data analysis using sql queries (translating business requirements to
reports).
•	Assist in the creation of a test environment for QA, development and
data-mining reporting requirements. Supervise dba activities for Production
Global Enterprise Content Management Application with database approaching 3 TB
in size (d/b and content).

Shell Netherlands and other clients: Oracle Performance Consultant.             
            	May 2004 – Jul 2004
•	Analyzed and resolved performance issues with Oracle 9i, 10g by analyzing
statspack and sql trace files.
o	Recommended parameter changes to oracle installation
o	Worked with the OpenText consultant to develop a custom patch to resolve
application code inefficiencies
o	Added custom indexes to the schema to improve some of the frequently executed
reports.
•	Assist with the performance optimization of the Oracle Database hosting their
LiveLink application
•	Develop several custom business critical LiveReports (advanced SQL Query
writing)  to expose objects stored in their Enterprise Content (unstructured
content)

OpenText Corp: Oracle Technical Specialist/DBA.		           	                   
 Apr 2000 – Apr 2004
•	Performed Application DBA related activities (SQL*Loader, Export, Import,
Backup up and recovery, Database tuning), migration between Oracle, SQL Server
6.5 and 7.0 and Sybase Adaptive Server V11 and 12.
•	Provided 3rd level support for Enterprise Customers concerning performance
issues with LiveLink on Oracle DB. 
•	Provided on-site Oracle d/b consulting (performance tuning, architecture and
configuration planning) to Enterprise customers in Canada, US and Europe.  100%
success rate in achieving and in some cases exceeding customer expectations.
•	Developed and delivered Oracle training curriculum for OpenText Technical and
Customer Support staff The training reduced the “problem resolution time” for
Oracle related support calls from several days to less than 1 day.

enhancements to core products. Recommendations resulted in significant
improvement in the overall performance of the product. In some cases over 400 %
performance improvement was observed.
