Work Experience

1999 to Present Peninsula Floors, Inc. Livermore, CA
LEAD SYSTEMS ANALYST
Peninsula Floors designs and installs flooring and countertops for the new home
construction industry. Over the last 7 years, I have worked with subject matter
experts throughout the company to design and develop a custom vertical
application to manage their entire operational needs from point of sale through
to purchasing, warehousing/inventory, order fulfillment and billing.

This project started back in 1999 with a series of business area analysis (BAA)
meetings held with staff and management. From those requirements sessions, I
developed prototype designs and detailed specifications over several weeks time.
A number of business modules have been developed over the last several years
including Project Maintenance, Bidding, Product Maintenance, Point of Sale,
Purchasing, Inventory, Customer Service and Management Reporting. The system has
been used by over 300 employees in multiple locations across California and
Nevada. Developed as a two tier client/server system, the client code is in VB
6.0 and back end business logic is written in Oracle’s PL/SQL language running on
Oracle 10G. (Converted from Oracle 8.5) Reporting is implemented using Crystal
Reports Version 9.0.

In the last year, we have extended the system out to the extranet, allowing
customers and business partners to selectively view and enter information. Two
portals have been developed to help streamline our customer service and
subcontractor payment functions. These ASP.NET applications were built in VS
Studio 2005 using the VB.NET language and Version 2.0 of the .NET framework. Both
projects leverage many of the new objects and capabilities available in VS and
.NET 2.0 including master pages, wizard controls, Membership service and
built-in Crystal reporting.

The company purchased Microsoft’s Dynamics AX 3.5 platform in mid-2006 to handle
back office accounting activity. Working with outside consultants, I co-developed
automated interfaces into and out of the Dynamics application to integrate with
our in-house system. These interfaces required extending selected Dynamics base
classes and extending the base Dynamics invoicing table structure to accommodate
additional attributes unique to our business. Through these projects I have a
good understanding of the Dynamics system architecture and toolset and some
practical experience developing in X++ , using various object types available in
the AOT including menus, custom classes and reports.

In summary, I have gained exposure to a wide array of business functions from
sales and marketing to inventory and back office accounting. Through these
experiences, I have developed an understanding of standard business practices and
the effective use of technology to streamline these operations. Since 2001, I
have been telecommuting from my home in Golden, CO, visiting the main office in
Livermore once or twice a year as needed.

2001 to Present GO2Paper Oakland, CA
WEB Developer (Part Time)
On a part time basis, I have provided maintenance and small enhancements for a
small web-based business operating a paper trading site used by the paper and
printing industries. The website was developed in ASP with a SQL Server 2000 back
end database. I developed several administrative tools used for reporting and
marketing purposes. These included an automated email function to deliver weekly
marketing notices and an automated alert function to notify customers when
product meeting their criteria was posted to the site. The website uses a mixture
of javascript on the client, vbscript on the application tier and T-SQL
procedures and functions on the database tier. Through this experience, I’ve
gained first hand experience with javascript and the DOM browser object model as
well as a variety of coding techniques using classic ASP.

1985 to 1999 Chevron Corporation San Ramon, CA
PROGRAMMER/ANALYST – CHEVRON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COMPANY
Working over 14 years in Chevron’s Information Technology Division, I was
exposed to a wide variety of applications and technologies supporting the
downstream marketing division of Chevron Products Company. These experiences are
summarized below. These projects gave me a wide breadth of experience in
technologies, best-practices and business methodologies.

CHEVRON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COMPANY
Downstream Marketing - 1 Year (1999)
My most recent experience was supporting the marketing organization, working on
a team of over 15 developers programming a web application used by chevron
station dealers and affiliates. (since renamed to Chevron Business Point). The
application was developed as a long term strategic portal that would serve
business communication between chevron and it’s dealer network going forward. I
worked on a portion of the site that dealt with the “jobber” customer segment and
a particular program called the Jobber Business Fund. The subsystem was developed
partially in Lotus Notes (from a legacy system) and integrated into the web
portal. The portal was built using NetDynamics (subsequently purchased by Sun and
sold as part of the Sun One Java development platform) and an Oracle 8.5 database
on the back end. NetDynamics provided a framework for web development and a rich
series of objects was developed in-house to support our particular business
requirements. Through this experience, I gained a good understanding of the Java
language and related object oriented programming and design principles.

CHEVRON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COMPANY
Diesel Fuels Division - 2 years (1997 thru 1998)
Working with the diesel marketing group, I lead a small team of developers thru
the analysis, requirements and development stages of a pricing and decision
support system called “SmartPrice”. Developed in IEF/Composer 3 Tier technology,
the system provided sales and pricing information to a team of sales managers,
allowing them to evaluate market and historical information and change prices on
a daily basis. Using the Oracle / DB2 gateway technology, changes were written
directly from Oracle to the mainframe DB2 pricing system (CPS) in real time.

CHEVRON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COMPANY
Jobber Marketing – 1 year (1996)
Working closely with a representative form the jobber marketing group, I
designed and developed a target marketing and mailing label generation system
called “SmartMail”. The user interface was developed using PowerBuilder 6.0 ,
utilizing the PFC (Powerbuilder Foundation Class) object library and back end
stored procedures in Oracle.

CHEVRON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COMPANY
Aviation Fuels Division - 4 years (1991 thru 1995)
In 1990, I started working with the Aviation Division of Chevron Products
Company. For several years I was “co-located” with the end users in downtown San
Francisco. The project began with an implementation of a decision support system
(AIMS) based on IBM’s DIS (Data Interpretation System) tools. The original
database implementation was DB2/2 (DB2 for PS2) and was later migrated to Oracle.
I worked closely with a consultant from IBM for the first year to develop a
“star” based database schema to support flexible decision support queries. Later
in the assignment, I developed a client/server application to support automated
bidding and contracting. This system, developed using a GUI tool named
Applications Manager, automated the process of gathering bid prices and
formatting them inside a templated sales contract that could be sent out to bid.

CHEVRON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COMPANY
Credit Card Division – 4 years (1987 thru 1990)
In 1986, I transferred to the group supporting the Credit Card Division and
related systems. I spent 18 months in Vancouver, British Columbia working on a
large conversion effort to integrate Chevron Canada’s legacy credit card systems
into Chevron USA’s system. My tasks were largely related to the one time
migration of legacy data from the old file based system over to the CICS/IMS
database used by the new system. I developed a conversion process that involved a
number of programs and a series of testing and validation procedures. Upon
returning from British Columbia to San Ramon, I worked on a number of credit card
tracking and marketing systems using the NOMAD2 development tool.

CHEVRON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COMPANY
Bulk Order/Entry Division – 2 years (1985 thru 1986)
My first programming position was in the Bulk/Order Entry group supporting the
Chevron Products System. Using PL/X and IMS as the underlying technologies, I
implemented a number of small to mid-size enhancements to the order entry and
dispatching processes used by schedulers to manage bulk truckload fuel
deliveries.
