Marketing
MARKETING COORDINATOR
Pinyon Environmental Engineering Resources, Inc., Lakewood, CO - 2002 to
present
I began this new part-time position as a proposal coordinator and grew the
position into that of marketing coordinator. As I learned more about Pinyon, the
firm's goals, and the industry, I developed materials and methods to support the
technical staff in proposal preparation and marketing opportunities. My current
position is deadline-driven and requires extensive multi-tasking. My
accomplishments include: successful pursuit of municipal, state, and federal
contracts; designing and printing a quarterly color company newsletter,
brochures, posters, and other marketing pieces using Microsoft Publisher;
extensive client contact; Web research; database support; certification
maintenance; event planning and coordination; and administrative support. I have
been a leader in developing marketing programs for Pinyon. Primary successes
include helping to win a five-year federal contract for ground-water monitoring;
building transportation/transit proposal wins from one or two per year to more
than 10 annually; promoting business growth to necessitate the hiring of six new
staff members; and helping the firm win its first government contracts.
MARKETING COORDINATOR
Triax Communications, Denver, CO - 1989 to 1990
After creating a successful public relations and promotions package for the
launch of this cable company's first fiber-optic system in Milton, W.V., I
assisted with marketing activities prior to a merger.
MARKETING COORDINATOR
United Phone Book of Colorado, Englewood, CO - 1988 to 1989
This job involved conducting media buys; writing creative advertising and public
relations pieces; and preparing in-house communications. I was initially hired as
a proofreader.
PUBLISHING
MANAGING EDITOR
Ray Publications, Wheat Ridge, CO - 2001
This position required detailed planning and coordination to maintain tight
production schedules for two bimonthly composites industry magazines and two
annual directories. I served as a liaison between the editor-in-chief/publisher
and the writers, sales staff, and graphic artist. Responsibilities included
proofreading pages and blue lines, and database management.
MANAGING EDITOR
O'Connor Communications, Denver, CO - 1998-1999
The owner of a small newsletter production firm hired me to plan, reformat,
write, and produce four completely different newsletters, all of which had
different production schedules. Organization and good communication with a
talented staff were vital to meeting deadlines.
COPY EDITOR
The Denver Post, Denver, CO - 1997
Anchored late-shift copy desk to edit news and pre-press copy; wrote cutlines
and informative standing column pieces; and updated news articles for the final
edition.
COPY DESK CHIEF
Wyoming Tribune-Eagle, Cheyenne, WY - 1994 to 1997
I was hired to oversee daily production of two newly merged newspapers, and
solve tardy deadlines, which I did immediately by identifying problems and
solving them. I coordinated a staff of about 50 reporters, section editors,
graphic artists, photographers, production staff members, and pressmen. I helped
to plan and then direct the development of each edition. Responsibilities
included designing Page One using QuarkXpress, as well as some inside pages;
guiding the editorial and reporting staff members; and overseeing the press run.
NEWS EDITOR
Wyoming State Tribune, Cheyenne, WY - 1990 to 1993
Just months after I was hired as a copy editor, I was promoted to news editor.
As a result of my news judgment, design decisions, and close work with editorial,
graphic, and production staff members, the Wyoming Press Association awarded the
Tribune the Deming Cup for editorial excellence in 1992.
WESTERN SLOPE BUREAU CHIEF
Colorado Business Newspaper, Glenwood Springs, CO - 1981 to 1982
I was solely responsible for establishing the Western Slope bureau and
generating business news and features for this short-lived, upstart newspaper.
Also wrote for Colorado Business magazine.

County government, law enforcement, energy, business, and education.
