RELEVANT EMPLOYMENT

CUSTOMER SUPPORT ENGINEER
Integware – (January 2010-July 2010)

Java, Oracle, and Enovia Based Application Support - The sole Product Support
Engineer for seven Product Life Cycle Management applications targeted toward
customers in the Bio-Sciences. Duties involve researching customer issues,
troubleshooting and providing technical expertise, as well as coding fixes for
JSP, Java, or Enovia Oracle database issues. Developed a new Customer Support
process and initiated an effort to provide more automated tools using Java, PHP,
and Joomla. Maintained Support SharePoint and hot fix schedules using Microsoft
Project.

SYSTEMS ENGINEER
Hewlett Packard – (Remote Support Proactive Services group within IT) (January
1996-October 2009)

Java, JSP,Tomcat, JavaScript, C#, .NET, MySQL Developer - As a member of the
Software Management team, participated in the development of the Remote Support
Software Manager framework for distributing packages to both Mission Critical
customers and small and medium-sized businesses. This framework was built on top
of Radia/OVCM and involved both new customer viewable interfaces and components
that applied software according to business rules and customer flexible
policies.

oDesigned, implemented, tested, delivered, and evolved a custom UI that allows
customers to download applications hosted in the Hewlett Packard Data Center.

o Used Java, Struts, JSP, and ANT to create new tools such as the web-based SWM
Packager for Radia that allowed partners to publish customized packages to the
Configuration Server database. This tool was created through my own initiative
and demonstrated the ability to take a largely unexplored idea and independently
evolve it to a reliable and time-saving tool at the center of a program. The
tool provided the necessary scalability to handle an increasing package volume
from multiple partner labs.
oDeveloped documentation, training, and videos for partners as well as a
client/server command line alternative for packaging.

o Contributed to the development of the Software Manager application download
program and installer using C#, .NET and Visual Studio.

o Implemented a content management system in Joomla and maintained group
Sharepoints.

o Co-designed a custom policy model for the OVCM (Radia) Configuration Server
database consisting of specialized classes and meta-data in conjunction with the
Hewlett Packard internal consulting group Radia C& I.

o Managed Monthly releases and evolved the team’s processes for deployment and
partner release registration.

o Created a library for performing packaging operations such as installs,
removals, and catalog updates using OVCM (Radia) interfaces.

o Created an API for interfacing with OVCM (Radia) .EDM objects to obtain
package properties as well as a software catalog.

o Created a Metrics API that allows a list of installed applications and other
meta-data to be sent to the Hewlett Packard data center.

o Wrote extensive and well regarded SDK documentation for partners that related
to package development as well as extensive documentation regarding deployment
processes for the support team.

•Java, JSP, JavaScript, Tomcat Programmer - Developer and UI Architect for Patch
Database application on the ITRC. Used Java, JSP, struts, Java Beans, WebLogic,
and the WPA/SSA framework to built functionality for a web-based enterprise
application that allows users to perform online patch assessments of their
systems as well as download patches. The application is available world-wide
though the HP ITRC. Wrote install programs using Install Shield. Key designer
of the user interface for the NextGen patch solution. Wrote modules for a device
browser. Lead engineer for productizing an ITSM Change Management tool. Prior to
focusing on UI work, was a key requirements analyst and led user focus groups.

•C++ Development - Developer on the “Somersault” project for a toolkit that
provided fault tolerance through process replication. The toolkit allowed users
to develop applications consisting of “primary”, “secondary”, and “witness” nodes
that allowed users of the toolkit to create fault tolerant applications. The
multiple nodes shared state information through checkpoints and thereby provided
the redundancy of a “hot standby”. Used C++ to develop an API as well as a time
saving interface that cut configuration time from approximately 8 hours to 1 hour
per installation.

•C++ Development - Used C++ to contribute to the development of an on-site event
management system that was integrated into a larger framework (known today as HP
Systems Insight Manager).

SOFTWARE ENGINEER/ANALYST
United States Dept. Of Agriculture, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Fort
Collins, CO
(November 1993 to 1996).

C, C++, and SQL Developer - Programming in C and C++ to create scientific and
business applications for the creation, modification, maintenance, and
integration of national, regional, and local soil data. As a member of the NASIS
development team, was responsible for developing a National Soil Information
System for soil attribute and spatial data using X-Windows, Intrinsics, and Motif
and Informix-Online. Implemented a report generation language and graphical
browser for viewing and printing reports. Also designed, programmed, documented,
and tested a Soil Characteristics Editor for classifying soils and managing land
units using Vermont Views and Informix Standard Engine. Also, participated in
porting existing code from a UNIX System-V environment to SunOS and Solaris and
developed a set of tools that allowed the agency's Field Office Computing Systems
to share current session data with GIS-oriented GRASS applications through
inter-process communication.

CONSULTANT
Permutations Software Engineering and Technical Documentation, Fort Collins, CO
(May 1993 to November 1993)

 C and C++ Developer - Programming in C and C++, writing technical
documentation, and software and hardware testing. Projects included writing a
technical manual for an instrument control package, writing a user interface for
a PBX call management system using the Zinc framework and C++, and writing test
scripts to validate instructions burned in ROM.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Cytomation, Inc., Fort Collins, CO (May 1991-May 1993)

C Developer - Programming of a graphical user interface for instrument control
software for collection, analysis, and display of cytometric readings (optical
readings from cells as they past through an interrogation point illuminated by a
laser) in a Windows environment. The data collected was multi-spatial data that
was displayed in real-time on univariate bar graphs and bivariate dot plots,
contours, and isometric landscapes and stored in data files that could be loaded
for subsequent analysis. The graphs could be scaled, smoothed, and rotated. Also
developed an automatic calibration package for cytometers that ensured proper
optical alignment of the instrument and performed customer support.

CONSULTANT
Hewlett-Packard, Fort Collins, CO (Summer 1990)

Technical Writer - Contracted to rewrite HP's Native Language Support Manual
which assisted users, programmers, and system administrators in running,
developing, and installing language independent programs targeted for an
international multi-lingual environment. The manual described the installation,
use, and modification of language tables and message catalogs as well as special
character handling and string processing for multi-byte code sets.
