Successful in creating and implementing supply chain and sourcing
processes/capabilities that deliver significant cost reductions and productivity
gains
2000 – Present. Director – Supply Chain, Sourcing, Operations
Recruited to create and implement the operational and supply chain processes to
support double digit yearly growth for this $500 million digital medical
equipment company, by the Executive Vice President and CFO in 2000, when sales
were $230 million.
- Created the Strategic Sourcing group, with a focus on total cost reduction.
Actual annual spend and productivity savings ranges from 5-15% per year, every
year.
- Created and implemented the fulfillment operations and regional sales/business
support groups and processes, which has: reduced sales order to customer delivery
lead times by 80%; improved order configuration and accuracy 925%; Reduced open
equipment receivables by 40%; Increased on time customer deliveries from 68% to
99%; increased shipping accuracy from 90% to 99%; reduced equipment inventories
by more than 50%.
- Distribution operations redesigned; zero headcount increases in last 5 years.
- Outsourced distribution of medical film. Closed two distribution facilities;
change was transparent to customers while maintaining high customer service
levels. Savings exceed $1 million per year.
- Currently leading the medical division’s participation in a North American
business unit distribution analysis and cost reduction. More than $14 million per
year in overall savings have been identified so far.

1999 – 2000 General Electric (GE) Healthcare Mount Prospect, Illinois
Global Sourcing Manager and Global Operations Manager
Headed all global Sourcing activities for GE Healthcare; PACS business unit. In
this role, I managed the Quality and Regulatory functions as well. Due to a
management vacancy; I took on the additional role of Global Operations Manager
(Acting) for my last six months with the company. After just 18 months with GE, I
was recruited to my current company.
- Implemented Strategic Sourcing initiatives aimed at minimizing all aspects of
cost (price, usage, and design). Reduced materials spend by 15% in first 10
months.
- Significant projects included: a global monitor consolidation project across 5
different business units that reduced the number of unique monitors worldwide by
75%. $2 million a year in materials spend savings were realized. As well as a
private label CR equipment project and negotiations that netted more than $4
million a year in savings.
- Certified; six sigma green belt.
- Supported and implemented as many as 6 New Product Introduction (NPI) rollouts
per month.

Manager Strategy
Recruited into Andersen as a Senior Consultant in the Supply Chain Strategy
Practice. Industries worked spanned: computer, consumer goods, pharmaceutical,
steel, and financial services.
Results:
- Designed and implemented cross-functional strategic supplier management
process and moved tactical procurement activities to operations. Savings: $16
million per year.
- Designed and implemented: JIT, build on demand, small lot production, focused
inventory storage, elimination of handoffs. Savings exceeded $8 million per year.
- Through a supply chain assessment, identified materials spend and process
redesign savings of $18 million per year.
- Designed and documented required process redesign across sourcing,
warehousing, private trucking fleet as well as corresponding shipping hubs and
spokes.
- Developed new Customer Service; strategy, service level metrics, and call
center locations/capabilities for two large newly merged companies. Reduced costs
by more than $5 million. Increased customer service levels by 30%.
1994 – 1995 AVEX Electronics Fremont, California
Materials Manager and Program Manager
Joined this $400 million contract manufacturer as the Program Manager for the
company’s largest customer. Within 3 months of joining; due to a vacancy, took on
the added role of Materials Manager; held both titles/roles for the rest of my
tenure there. After just 19 months; I was actively recruited by several
consulting firms, eventually joining Andersen Consulting.
- As Program Manager; had complete customer P&L responsibility. Exceeded monthly
P&L goals every month by 2X. Tripled inventory turns to 28. Achieved and
maintained true 100% on time delivery. WIP inventory reduced from 54 days to 6
hours.
- Created the vendor qualification and TCO rating systems.
- Implemented: kanban, manufacturing flow replenishment, cellular manufacturing
techniques, and build on demand capabilities.
- Turned around the eminent departure of the company’s largest customer; Sun
Micro Systems; to winning their coveted supplier of the year award in less than
12 months.
