UConn Health Center, Farmington, CT

Provide vision and leadership for the Application Development Team, Patient
Safety System Team, Vendor Applications Team, Administrative Applications Team,
and Process and Quality Improvement Team. Supervisory responsibility for 32
employees.

Accomplishments include:

•	Guided the development team from an unstructured environment to a new
development process based upon project planning, requirements gathering,
architecture and modeling, standardized development methods, design patterns, and
code/component reuse. New structure and tools resulted in shorter project
timeframes through a standardized requirements process.
•	Directed and guided the implementation of several new technologies internally
including .Net, BizTalk, Team Foundation Server (TFS), System Center Operations
Manager (SCOM), Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), Windows Presentation
Foundation (WPF), and Silverlight.
•	Utilized both Waterfall and Agile (Scrum) methodologies where appropriate.
Created the original waterfall process in 2003 and began the process to migrate
the team to the Scrum process through a couple pilot projects in 2008.
Implemented all aspects including daily scrum meetings, bi-weekly sprint review
meetings, and team backlog self organization. Worked out a method to integrate

Source Safe. We are in the process of utilizing Team Foundation Server for source
control going forward.

training. Assured quality by implementing a QA and deployment process through
each environment.
•	Implemented a three physical tiered production environment with a multi-node
load balanced front and middle tier utilizing Windows 2008 NLB.
•	Improved communications and eliminated surprises to senior management and
customers through enhanced project planning and monitoring through the entire
development lifecycle.
•	Created a culture for embracing emerging technologies better serving the
company’s needs. Encouraged team collaboration, code reuse, standards, and best
practices.
