MAJOR PROJECTS & ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Successfully migrated six Air Force DB2 subsystems and QMF applications to
version 8 from version 7.
Converted System and application Image Copy and Modify jobs to use LISTDEFs
and DB2 Templates.
Created and delivered a document on HUDCAPS disaster recovery and assisted
client in modifying the HUD Business Resumption Plan to include this
information.
Resolved network communication between three office PCs and two server

In response to OIG findings, I created and delivered a document on reducing

As part of development testing used SAS to extract and manipulate data from

Created several jobs to monitor the performance of DB2 table/index spaces and
DASD space for performance tuning.
As part of the HUDCAPS production cycle analysis, I identified several QMF
queries that were not performing efficiently and recommended to the client that
the queries be redesigned to take advantage of the clustering index.
Converted indexes from TYPE 1 to TYPE 2 in an effort to take advantage of DB2
version 5 index enhancements.
Responsible for Y2K Systems and application testing. The testing included
developing test plans and checklist, installing Y2K testing software, applying
patches, applying maintenance, and coordinating software updates with vendors.
Coordinated the installation of DB2 3.1 and DB2 PM 3.2 at ten IRS Service
Centers and the development site. The installation included coordinating dates
and times with Service Center managers and approving installation scripts.
Coordinated the 2nd annual Database Administrator (DBA) Conference.
Coordination included: cost analysis; creation of an information packet for
section members and field participants; approval of all topics and handouts;
submission of actual cost to budget personnel; and preparation of conference
agenda. Prior to implementation, I reviewed and tested deliverables from
contractors for the conversion of the Automated Collection System (ACS).
Spoke about RACF/DB2 Security at the 3rd annual RACF Conference. The topics
included an introduction to DB2, RACF administrator responsibilities, the
DB2/RACF interface, and ACS/ICS RACF groups.
Appointed Contract Office Technical Representative (COTR) for the redesign and
re-hosting of the Automated Inpatient Data System and the Report of Patient Data
System from Honeywell GCOS-8 flat files to IBM MVS and DB2. Responsible for
signing off on all deliverables, settling disputes between contractors and users,
and coordinating all technical reviews.
Managed the General Systems Branch for five months. I was responsible for the
day-to-day operations of the team. Prepared division level project status
reports, employee evaluations, and attended mid-level management meetings with
users and agency personnel. In this position I reassigned work to fit personnel
resulting in an 85% decrease in backlogged work.
Project Leader over the development of 35 COBOL programs for the Medical
Expense and Performance Reporting System following Air Force and DOD programming
and documentation standards.
