OBJECTIVE: I am seeking a Telecommute Part Time Customer Support Position
My home office is completely set up with Windows XP, Op en Office Suite
that is compatible with Microsoft Office, printer/scanner/fax and DSL/ Cable
connection.
I will work on site on a part time basis if telecommute
is not available.
Personal Statement
I am originally from Philadelphia where I went to travel school. Upon
completion I was hired at American Express Travel. In 1989 I moved to
Washington DC where I worked at the US State Department with American
Express Travel. In 1996 I was transferred with the same company to Tampa
Florida.
I taught myself how to operate my computer and Microsoft Office Suite; which
included Word, Excel, Power Point and some Access. I approached my management
at AMEX and identified a need for a training program in the area of computer
applications so that the agents could better utilize the tools they had at
their disposal, but did not understand its use. I wrote a curriculum on
basic Windows Operating System, Office Suite, Internet Access (Do's and
Don'ts), Work Organization, Backing Up Work, Security Issues and general
Computer Maintenance. I also gave instructions on how to organize and send
to clients readable reports on their future travel cost projections to
different cities and countries using Excel. I researched traveler's
complaints and sent them reports to resolve those issues. I was coordinator
and trainer on the office email application; setting up new accounts,
monitored the memory usage and trained individuals on maintaining their own
accounts. I was the liaison between programmers and end users for a newly
implemented quality assurance software. I loaded this software on all the
computers in the office and trained the agents in it usage. I reported any
trouble encountered to the programmers and downloaded all patches received
to fix the reported problems.
When I was laid-off after 9-11, I was afforded an opportunity to go back to
college in 2001 to expand my knowledge in the information technology field
specializing in Local Area Network and Linux.
I have life and work experience which have left me stable and dependable. I
also wrote for and published a monthly newsletter for my church that has an
international audience. For my church I have recorded and duplicated audio tapes
for the services and keep track of distribution and billing for the tapes,
and ran the Power Point slides during services. I also train other members to
handle these duties.
