Work experience:
1997 - Present Principle Staff Software Engineer, Motorola, Inc.,
Plantation, Florida
•Supervising ten software engineers in China that develop embedded software
(C/C++) for MS products; providing software reliability, survivability, and
maintainability guidance; instilling adherence to company’s software
process/policy; communicating with team’s lead on software development, schedule
planning, and resources availability; holding weekly/ad-hoc technical meeting to
discuss development status and exiting/potential roadblocks
•Supervising two system test engineers that develops TTCN test cases and/or test
iDEN mobile subscriber’s protocol for conformity to the iDEN Specification;
providing technical guidance and training in regards to the iDEN Protocol per the
iDEN Specifications; meeting daily with the lead to discuss the relevant issue,
recommendation, and new/modify test strategy and statuses; insuring that test
suites are being executed against products on-time per project test plan
•Supervising two system test engineers that test (drive) MS running Java
application that takes GPS fixes while capturing logs for post analysis; planning
the logistical effort in executing drive test in Singapore by coordinating for
transportation over several days, with company’s electrical/mechanical
engineering team in acquiring the latest antenna and/or product hardware, with
operations management for specific test dates that coincide with the product test
plan, and with the team’s finalization the drive test plan
•Developed a GPS Analysis Software System (Java) that reduced post analysis
overhead; system analyzes drive test data, creates both XML report and KML for
plotting, and auto launch Google Earth to plot coordinates; designed and
normalized a new database schema; system HTTP Post XML report and server side
updates data to MySQL database via PHP scripts. Currently, developing GPS
Analysis Webpage to query the MySQL database
•Spearheaded the initiative to implement GPS drive test in Singapore to test our
MS by conducting route reconnaissance in liaison with host country’s service
operator; created policies outlining the required testing and data analysis
•Engineered the registration control (C++) of a dual-mode MS where both iDEN and
CDMA technologies are simultaneously active; re-engineered the registration
control via Telelogic Rhapsody (UML) to improve reliability
•Created the protocol integration of General Dynamics’s Encryption Software
System into our MS; supervised four Australia software engineers that implemented
the changes
•Successfully redesigned the MS's Mobility Management (MM) module via Rational
Rose Real-Time (UML) to increase reliability and efficiency; implemented
Subscriber Identity Module and MM interface to support the industries first
worldwide dual-mode GSM and iDEN technologies
•Interfaced with customers, such as Sprint/Nextel and Boost, in providing test
support, supplying technical documentation, or holding face-to-face discussion
•Implemented SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) technology and the MM (Mobility
Management) interface in support of the industries first worldwide dual-mode GSM
and iDEN technology
•Developed the mobile originated portion of the SMS (Short Message Services)
protocol on iDEN technology
•Lead team investigation of EMS (Enhanced Messaging Services) and MMS
(Multimedia Messaging Services) to include feasibility of implementing them on to
the iDEN platform
•Created Visual C++ DLLs to unit test new or debug existing MS functionality
•Spearheaded the re-engineering efforts of our existing code-base for the
optimization of lesser MIPS, reduce flash space, efficiency, robustness, and
lower risk.
•Represented our functional area of expertise (iDEN Signaling Protocol) during
the entire product life cycle by supporting product release management, feature
scheduling, defect tracking and resolution, monitoring/root-causing drive test
and field issues
•Assisted Project Manager in scheduling feature development
•Proposed/suggested improvements to SW process to align with the recommendations
of the SEI 3/CMM model.
Skills:
•Working Knowledge of GSM Network, ETSI/ITU Standards, C/C++, JAVA, UML,
OOA/OOD, XML/XSL, XHTML, Java Scripts, PHP, SQL, Hierarchical State Machine,
Rational Rose, Rhapsody, ClearCase, UNIX and Windows platform, MS Office Tools,
MS Visual C++/DLL, and MS Project
•Knowledge of TCP/IP Suites, RFCs, Network Communication, Multimedia Systems,
and Software Security
Training:
•Six Sigma Foundations (14 SEP 06): Provides an overview of traditional Six
Sigma and an introduction to Digital Six Sigma. Establishes a solid foundation
for building the expertise required to drive the company’s business improvement
with Digital Six Sigma methodologies
•Digital Six Sigma (DSS) Tools Training (15 MAY 07): Covers commonly used DSS
tools and methods. Course introduced concepts through lectures and the
opportunity to practice in a team-based simulation. Topics included DMAIC (Define
opportunities, Measure performance, Analyze opportunity, Improve performance, and
Control performance), DMADDD (Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, Digitize, and
Draw Down), DMADV (Define requirement, Measure performance, Analyze
relationships, Design solution, and Verify functionality) and tools, methods and
vocabulary
•Basic Statistics (3 JUL 07): Instilled awareness and an expectation that
customer satisfaction can be improved by understanding variations and learning to
react to it appropriately
•Open Source Software (8 NOV 06): Risk and Path to Safety: To educate Mobile
Devices software engineers and managers about open source software licenses and
to inform people about their legal obligations when using open source software
•Motivation: Foster Employee Motivation (15 NOV 06): Managers/Supervisors can
successfully motivate employees by measuring and building the motivation levels
of their employees. This included how to determine motivational responsibility,
to recognize motivators/de-motivators, to motivate employees with specific needs,
and to help employees increase their own motivation levels
•Assisted GPS technology, GSM, CDMA, and GPRS
