Job History
Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector, Austin, TX JUN 1997 - JUN 2008
Engineer IT Software III
I spent majority of my time in Motorola?s Supply Chain/Planning Systems arena
working as the senior programmer on the Austin specific version of Motorola's
Material Requirements Planning (MRP) System that was developed in-house. This
assignment consisted of on call support for over 100 batch jobs on the IBM
OS/390 MVS mainframe as well as working with users to investigate any problems
or concerns they had with the data they were provided with by the MRP system.
This position required extensive use of the COBOL/COBOL II programming
languages, Endevor code control, CA7/11, configuration management, TSO/ISPF
development environment, VSAM file and access methods (IDCAMS), batch FTP
jobs, and IBM utilities, and OS JCL. This software development
process/environment was in accordance with SEI/CMM level 3. Some of the MRP
data was pushed down to non MVS mainframe systems such as SUN E10000
enterprise server running Soloris, RS6000 running AIX, and IBM OS/390 running
VM.
McDonnell Douglas Corporation (MDC), St. Louis, MO JAN 1996 - JUN 1997
Principle Specialist Programmer/Analyst
I was a member on McDonnell Douglas?s Integrated Human Resource Information
System?s (IHRIS) technical support team serving as the UNIX technical
specialist. Primary duties included acting as technical liaison between IHRIS
project and IBM/ISSC personnel on UNIX related issues, installation and
configuration of application (Peoplesoft (HRMS/Payroll)) and system software
on IHRIS database servers HP9000 (T-520 and K-410). Established UNIX related
development standards (batch MF COBOL and scripts), assisted the developers in
migration of data and the porting of code from an IBM mainframe environment to
a UNIX based client server configuration. Monitored system load and
performance, provided ongoing programmer training in such areas as Micro Focus
COBOL, HP COBOL SoftBench development environment, source code version control
(RCS), UNIX script development (Korn shell and Perl) and program debugging.
Lockheed Martin Aeronautical System?s Company (LMASC), Marietta, GA
APR 1992 - JAN 1996
IS Specialist
Programmer on Lockheed Martin Aeronautical System?s Company (LMASC) Methods
Improvement Program (MIP) team whose goal was to bring all phases of F22
computer-aided design to the engineers? desktop under a graphical user
interface (GUI) with direct access to all computing resources using
client/server technology. 200+ X-terminals were connected through 13 HP-
9000/755 PA-RISC workstations networked to an IBM 3090, CONVEX (C3880) and VAX
via FDDI. Computer applications were presented using a seamless (point and
click) environment thereby shielding engineers from vendor specific commands
(e.g. UNIX, IBM JCL, and VAX DCL). Development of this interface and
associated code on HP 9000/755 workstations running HP-UX makes extensive use
of OSF/Motif (X-windows/XLib) and "C" programming language. Half time was
spent porting IBM MVS legacy programs (FORTRAN and ASSEMBLER) to HP UNIX
workstations (FORTRAN and C). Remaining time was spent developing database
applications under Oracle (Ver 7) and Oracle Forms (Ver 4) in support of F22
Structures engineering group.
Martin Marietta Astronautics Group. Denver, CO. AUG 1990 - APR 1992
Staff Engineer - Software
Performed system and software engineering during preliminary and critical
design phases, supported technical reviews with users, presented design at
formal reviews, provided inputs to database specification, created design
specifications, created and maintained unit development folders and
documentation, wrote, compiled, unit tested and supported code through formal
test for the DSX program. Operating environment consisted of Unisys 1100
mainframe and Teradata DBC/1012 data base machine/engine. Responsible for
message processing functions: this consisted of applying database updates
from an external source to our local host via batch COBOL processing using
multiple threads into the data base machine (Teradata).
Planning Research Corporation (PRC) Headquarters SEP 1989 - AUG 1990
US Air Force Foreign Technology Division, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH
Systems Analyst
Duties included designing, developing, testing and maintaining application
programs in a batch and on-line environment supporting a Collection
Requirements Management System (CRMS) for the United States Air Force's
Foreign Technology Division. Support included daily interaction with the
customer in such areas as problem identification and resolution, new and
changing requirements, user training, and occasional formal presentations or
demonstrations of system functions and capabilities to distinguished visitors
of other components of the United States Intelligence Community. Operating
environment was an IBM 3090 equivalent machine running IBM VM/CMS release 5.
Programming languages used include Oracle database, REXX, COBOL, ISPF Panels
and Tables and PDF editor, CMS files, REXX scripts and VM/CMS operating system
facilities.
Planning Research Corporation (PRC)
Headquarters US Army Europe - Campbell Barracks Heidelberg, FRG
Project Test and Evaluation Task Leader
SEP 1987 - SEP 1989
Duties included performing integration and system level test activities (i.e.
requirements mapping and traceability, test design and implementation
strategies, and execution and documentation of test cases) for RAPIDE
(Relocatable Army Processors for Intelligence Data Europe) Release 1 using DOD
STD 7935. RAPIDE was a DOD TS/SCI intelligence information system running
under IBM VM/CMS operating system utilizing Model 204 DBMS on an IBM 9370.
