PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
— SWITCH TECHNICIAN ¬– Mutual Telecommunications Services – Kuwait, 2006-Present
—
Ensure top-quality 24x7 communications standards as part of 5-person team for
Camp Arifjan, a large-scale U.S. Army base supporting the U.S. Army Forces
Central (ARCENT) Coalition Forces Land Component Command (CFLCC). Administer
Nortel SL-100 multifunction switch, to include complex DSN network on the
trunking side and 10K phone numbers on the line side. Analyze and report on call
utilization/call patterns to management. Identify and resolve network integrity
faults and peripheral/auxiliary equipment breakdowns. 
Key Accomplishment:
•	Provided technical recommendations to clients as on-site subject matter expert
on most suitable products/features to meet needs. Researched and advised on ways
to improve functionality and efficiency.
— SWITCH MANAGER ¬– Datum Software – Marrietta, GA, 1999-2006 —
Hired as a switch technician contractor for Dobbins Air Reserve Base with Naa
Services, until Naa was acquired by Griffin Services in 2001. Continued to
support Dobbins after Datum Software acquired contract from Griffin Services in
2004.	 
Directed Nortel PBX SL-100 end-office military switching, to include mentoring
and training 2 backup technicians to provide 24x7 on-call support. Coordinated
equipment installations/integrations with third-party vendors and engineers.
Prepared requirements for yearly internal inspections. Served as liaison during
emergencies. Guaranteed system reliability, customer satisfaction, and efficient
operations and management.  
Key Accomplishments:
•	Established communications system to process and find shelter for evacuees to
Dobbins Air Reserve Base from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Served as
primary contact with FEMA, the American Red Cross, local police, and other
authorities to assess/meet needs. Convinced management to keep system permanently
in place in preparation for future disasters.
 
•	Led 2-person effort to allow 24x7 emergency agencies for military base to
operate with better functionality and consistent dialing plans. Interphased the
Nortel SL-100 PBX to connect with a Siemens PBX, integrating 4 customer
communication lines. Utilized primary rate circuits to connect with Siemens
switch and built uniform dialing plans for each entity. 
•	Participated in year-long scheduling and planning of comprehensive upgrade to
expand existing PBX system for Navy base to automate 24x7 call transferring
capability. Designed an extended auto attendant process within existing Octel
voice mail system for on-base call transfers. Researched/recommended Morale
Minder system to transfer calls via DSN to local city. Analyzed call traffic
volumes, strategized on proper integration of equipment with Navy’s IOM system,
and procured 10K new phone numbers. Reengineered both hardware/software, to
include building line trunk controller and several enhanced line concentrating
modules for both line/ISDN. 
•	Offered 24x7 emergency assistance after September 11 attacks to install
special circuits to secure land-to-air communications for the base. Implemented
an emergency base recall system to contact soldiers automatically from the server
and communicate orders to them.
•	Resolved customer issue with commercial calls during peak business hours.
Conducted traffic study on commercial trunks and identified signaling problem.
Met with CLEC and coordinated primary rate interphase trunk upgrade at no cost to
the customer.
•	Reallocated 2 T-1 lines to areas requiring more bandwidth, which resulted in
increased features for the customer. Introduced caller identification, E911, and
video conferencing.
