2009 ? 2010 K-12 Curriculum Specialist

As the Curriculum Specialist, I initiated school improvement efforts to improve
curriculum and instruction. I analyzed all types of test data and assisted
principals in the development of research-based strategies and programs to
improve student achievement. I also was responsible for coordinating and
maintain documentation for ELL students, Title I, Early Intervention Programs,
and 20 extra day funds, and the Homeless population. Assisted Assistant
Superintendent to develop professional development plans for the system. Pursued
relevant grant opportunities from state, federal, private, institutional and
organizational sources. Implements funded proposals and complied with reporting
requirements.
2008 ? 2009 Principal
Bremen 4th and 5th Grade Academy,
Bremen, Georgia
As the school leader, I took all the responsibility of opening a new school with
the systems? 4th and 5th grade staff and students. The goal of the school was to
provide a magnet or charter school experience for all students. I was able to
research best practices as the Principal for a year prior to the school?s
opening. The curriculum highlighted math, science, and technology. The focus was
on providing students with an interdisciplinary education offering real life
hands-on experience, acceleration, and accurate remediation differentiated to
address individual students skill gaps. I directed the Response to Intervention
process and purchased remedial technology programs after careful research. When
money was a barrier to purchase innovative curricular aids and equipment I wrote
grants and received over $160,000 dollars worth of money in the years of
2007-2009.
I was in charge of monitoring and maintaining a safe, healthy, peaceful
environment conducive to learning. I balanced the classrooms and scheduled
innovative programs that both helped students and increased FTE funding. I also
monitored the achievement, practices, and attendance of students and teachers. I
reviewed all curriculum, instructional practices, student work products, and test
data to insure that the students received the quantity and quality of education
so that they could reach their full potential. I supervised the school leadership
team, school council, and the parent teacher association.
2004 ? 2008 Assistant-Principal
H.A. Jones Elementary, Bremen, Georgia
Assisted the Principal in the monitoring and evaluation of school staff. Served
as the Curriculum and Instructional Assistant Principal concerned with issues
related to teacher improvement, student achievement, and curriculum and
instructional differentiation for at-risk students. I also assisted in running a
safe learning environment conducive to student learning. I served as the Program
Director of the after school program. The program focused on student enrichment,
remediation, and vocabulary development though rich experiences designed to
engage and enrich each after school learner. Developed a partnership with the
Bremen Parks and Recreation Department to provide enrichment programs such as
art, music, pottery, acting, and cooking. During my leadership, the after school
program increased enrollment by more than 100 students. We used ?20 extra day
money?, Title 1 funds, and parent pay to meet each learner and expand their
learning capability. I wrote two grants and gained over $25,000 dollars to
purchase instructional aids to assist at-risk learners. The program made a
profit. Proceeds were used to purchase technology for the school.
