PROJECT HISTORY
June, 2007 - Present – Software Engineer – Vangent Inc., Coralville, IA
* Developer on the FAFSA (Federal Student Loan Application) system (both
internet and mainframe) using JAVA, JAVA Servlets, JAVA server pages, HTML,
CICS, COBOL, DB2, MVS/JCL, and Business Objects.
* Team Leader of 3 subsystems for the FAFSA system
* Business Objects developer and maintainer of the Business Objects universes
* Responsible for keeping all applicable documentation up to date that is
required to support the CMMI process improvement model
Nov. 2006 - June, 2007 – Consultant – Wells Fargo Mortgage, West Des Moines, IA
* Lead developer of 6 new CWS Internet screens for users to add Cost-to-
Originate Loan data, utilizing HTML, CSS, Javascript, COBOL, VSAM, and IBM’s
CICS interface to the internet.
* Revised two monthly Loan Summary report programs to access and print summary
information dynamically by Cost Center
Sept. 2000 – Nov., 2006 – Senior Programmer Analyst -True Value Co., Chicago, IL
* Converted the Auto-Ship promotional ordering system from a batch-driven
system with VSAM files on the mainframe to a front-end, WEB-based ordering
feature with updates to DB2 and SQL Server tables. Sole developer of this
this new ordering feature, using Java Servlets, JAVA Server Pages, and HTML.
This new system enabled True Value hardware stores to place and maintain orders
from the internet, adding orders directly to DB2 tables, as well as making
updates and deletes to existing orders.
* Enhanced the Auto-Ship internet ordering system by incorporating the
functionality for users to view all current and previous orders (JAVA, JSP,
HTML)
* Key team player in the conversion of the Order Fulfillment, Order Billiing,
and Back Orders systems from VSAM to DB2.
* Enhanced the Ordering system so that True Value stores could either
accumulate or replace back orders. Handled every aspect of this project from
analysis and design through implementation , following a structured methodology.
Converted the back orders from VSAM to DB2.
* Designed and implemented various Order Entry programs to handle loading and
releasing of special orders to the DB2 order tables and followed up with CICS
screens to allow release and maintenance of those orders.
* Supported day-to-day operations of the Order Entry/Order Billings systems
* Prepared documentation (internal and external design documents and test
plans) for major projects, as required by Sarbanes-Oxley
* Served as a mentor and teacher to other less experienced programmers on the
Order Billing team, teaching DB2 and CICS and other topics
Aug, 1999 - Sept. 2000 – Consultant - Navistar International, Oak Brook Terrace,

* Completely converted the SPA (Customer Discount Control) system from
extensive IMS databases to DB2 tables, enabling required levels of referential
integrity. Utilized COBOL, CICS, DB2, Expediter.
* Enhanced the SPA system for internationalization
June 1999 - July 31, 1999 - Consultant - Motorola Automotive, Northbrook, IL
* Enhanced a finished goods inventory system, providing daily, weekly,
month-to-date, and year-to-date figures. Used COBOL, DB2, VSAM, and MVS/JCL to
complete this project.
* Provided detailed specifications and test plans for the project.
July 1997 - June 1999 - Consultant - Rockwell Collins Avionics & Comm., Cedar
Rapids, IA
* Prepared the Bill of Material and MRP systems for YR2000 using COBOL & PL/1,
IMS/DB, and MVS/JCL.
* Upgraded the Commercial Accounts Receivable system from the 91.01 IMS DB/DC
version of MSA’s (GEAC) software to the 97.01 CICS/VSAM version for YR2000
compliance.
* Converted two other Accounts Receivable systems for government contracts to
the GEAC system so that all Accounts Receivable systems would be in one place
for conversion to SAP
January 1996 to July 1997 -Consultant at MCI Telecommunications, Cedar Rapids,
IA
* Developed programs for the 96.2 and 97.2 releases of the New Commercial
Billing System software using Microfocus COBOL, VSAM, and MVS/JCL.
* Lead and developed a project to convert a Microsoft Access application to
CICS online screens and DB2 tables. Designed the CICS screens and DB2 tables
and provided documentation for the project.
October 1995 to December 1995 - Consultant at Principal Financial, Des Moines,

* Converted programs in the Group Insurance department from Intercom to CICS.
February 1995 to October 1995 - Consultant at Navistar International, Oak Brook,

* Performed extensive on-line development for the SPA (Customer Discount
Tracking) project for Navistar dealers and regional offices to enable creation
and maintenance of customized rates using IMS DB/DC, Message Format Service,
COBOL, Expediter, DB2, and IMS.

* Developed DB2 programs for the FOS (Future Optimum State) project, a joint
