CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
More than 14 years academic research experience in cell uptake of
drugs/chemicals, 6 years R&D experience in the design, expression and large-scale
production of recombinant proteins/vaccines and 5 years experience in new product
development, global product sale and marketing, product registration and

R&D Bioanalysis: Extensive hands-on experience in HPLC, GS, LC-MS/MS for
chemical and protein identification. 3 years experience in a microbial

-Bionanotechnology: Initiated Dow's bionanotechnology project. Used
nanotechnology to enhance DNA and vaccine delivery. Filled 3 preliminary

-Rapid Microbial Detection: Project leader of Dow's biosensor development.
Worked closely external academic experts to leverage company capability and to
define the value proposition of biosensors in industrial hygiene, medical

-Using surface activation and conjugation approach to immobilize antibody
against target recombinant protein to speed up GMO detection.
-Developed a prototype of 96-well plate with coating of LPS nanosensor for rapid
LPS detection in purified recombinant protein.
-Initiated/implemented concept of polymer-based nanocarrier for DNA and animal
vaccine delivery.
-Discovered novel function of bacterial protein as receptor-mediated endocytosis
signaling peptide.
-Used nanocarrier to increase antibody stability in solution and enhance uptake
in mammalian cells.
Biomaterial initiative (Team leader)
-Served as a bioanalytical focal point in bacterial genomics projects for Dow's
biomaterial development.
Identified fructosyltransferase as one of key enzymes controls the production of
bacterial adhesive (biofilm formation) using comparative 2-D electrophoresis and
MALDI-TOF.
-Surface functionalization of cellulose fibers to increase its biocompatibility,
and using LC-MS to confirm the presence of bioligands on the surface of fibers.
Protein Sciences, Vaccine Design and Production (Team Leader)
-Led a multidisciplinary team to study structure-function of antigens.
Established efficient approach to obtain functional refolded antigen from
bacterial expression inclusion body.
Used binding assay, photo/fluorescent spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, circular
dichroism and microcalorimetry to characterize engineered antigen.
-Leveraged internal and external expertise for protein X-ray crystallography.
-Produced highly purified seleno-methionine labeled proteins for phase

-Leveraged in-house protein analytical capability for discovery and quality

Determined target-site ligand binding domains by peptide mapping (MALDI,
LC-MS/MS) after limited proteolysis.
Applied microcalorimetry (DSC and ITC) to study protein-protein/ligand

Implemented the concept and process design for high throughput protein
