Key responsibilities involve drawing blood, preparing specimens for storage or
testing, assembling equipment and verifying patient’s records. My primary
function is the collection of blood samples from patients by venipuncture or
micro techniques. Also assist supervisors with the implementation of Standard
Operating Procedures (SOP's) for phlebotomy services in accordance with Quest
Diagnostics guidelines. Overall specific duties consist of performing the

> Receive tissue samples from patients--log patient samples and prepare them for
testing.
> Process specimens for delivery to appropriate laboratory departments.
> Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order;
package specimens for transport. Always ensure correct labeling of specimens
with required information.
> Complete requisitions accurately and maintain required records and paperwork.
> Properly dispose of contaminated sharps or used instruments according to

> Set up, clean and maintain medical laboratory equipment.
