CSC (Computer Sciences Corporation) DEC 2006 OCT 2008
Baltimore, MD
Role: Programmer Analyst
Common Working File Maintenance (CWFM) Project
CWF software system is an IBM Mainframe-based system. It consists of over 700
thousand lines of CICS, COBOL, and ALC codes. It utilizes IBMs INFO/Sys
Management system for requirements, design and change control tracking. It is a
pre-payment validation and authorization claims processing system for Medicare
Part A and Part B claims. Nine CWF sector sites that maintain a distributed
database of beneficiary master records operate it. It services over 54 million
Americans and processes over 800 million claims per year.
CSC is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the current CWF software and
operations and performing special projects as required. The maintenance
activities are heavily driven by legislative and regulatory mandates by Center
for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS),
Responsibilities:
Estimate Software Development Costs and Schedule
Involved in Analysis and Design of the systems that included Beneficiaries,
Providers, and Claims Processing according to business requirements
Design Software Tools and Subsystems to support software reuse and domain
analysis and manage their implementation
Developed programs using COBOL for both Batch and On-line, CICS programs
JCL was extensively used to Test and schedule batch jobs
Used FILE-AID and TSO/ISPF to Allocate, Alter and Browse the VSAM files
Used ENDEVOR, Source Code Management and Version Control Configuration tool
Involved in Design and Coding of CICS Screens using BMS Macros
Debugging was done using Smart Test
Review existing programs and assist in making refinements, reducing operating
time, and improving current techniques
