-Performed consulting support function for the Director of Salisbury

LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT
-Analyzed and redesigned Roche Diagnostics Division’s physical distribution of
reagent to Swiss market with a team of 3.
-Performed a logistics systems engineering study for Mercedes Car Group of
Daimler AG with a team of 3 and provided recommendations on in-plant material
flow planning, layout optimization, and supply chain management.
-Conducted an analysis of alternatives as a team of 3 to support BMW Motorcycles
Division in making a decision about either installing automated storage &
retrieval systems in the plant or outsourcing the delivery of C-class items to a
third-party logistics provider; evaluated technical feasibility and cost
effectiveness of the alternatives.
BUSINESS PROCESS RE-ENGINEERING
-Analyzed, simplified and redesigned the transportation processes of a large
construction machinery leasing company, MVS Zeppelin GmbH Co. & KG; combined
steps to cut waste, eliminated repetitive tasks thus created transparency on and
reduced logistics costs by streamlining the shipping process of machinery and
containers between customers and 120 subsidiaries.
SYSTEMS ENGINEERING & MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS
-Worked on a semester-long project concerning testing of a decision support
system with a team of 7 students for AVECS Corp. AG. Project involved heuristic
evaluation and usability testing of a maritime maintenance control software.
PRODUCTION OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
-Analyzed the production systems of BBT Thermotechnik GmbH (Thermotechnology
Division of the Bosch Group), the industry leader in Europe; identified the
bottleneck workstations by performing time and motion studies and by tracking
work-in-process inventory; monitored the throughput of these workstations which
affected the overall throughput of the production system; formulated and offered
solutions like reducing downtime due to unexpected shutdown of critical machines,
and eliminating out of stock supplies, operator errors and waiting for materials;
challenged to assist the production engineers in a layout optimization project.
-Supported Production Planning team of Petkim Petrokimya Holding A.S (Petkim
Petrochemicals, Inc., a complex with 15 plants) in preparing daily reports;
improved the understanding of Material Requirements Planning policies.
-Introduced to ergonomic issues of man-machine-systems, industrial safety
accident prevention in manufacturing; trained how to use the human and machine
factors effectively in manufacturing, how to operate metal processing machines
and where to utilize their functions like drilling, forging, milling, welding,
extraction, and lathing.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND PURCHASING
-Developed project management skills via managing complex processes within a
matrix organization hospital, coordinating a project regarding the installation
of people counting systems in the Student Center; compiled a handbook to guide
the upcoming graduate assistants through the use of available data for future
use.
-Wrote requests for proposal on shipping of construction machinery and
containers; analyzed, evaluated, selected and negotiated contracts with freight
forwarding companies and closed deals.
