October 2004 - present
> Vista Asset Management needed a way to analyze the results of various
marketing initiatives. They have a point of sale system in 30+ stores. The Dbase
files are transmitted to the corporate office daily. These Dbase files were
imported into an SQL server using DTS. I developed an SQL database to organize
the various marketing initiatives and map the data from the POS system to the
marketing initiatives. I provided a .NET application that allows them flexibility
in selecting and combining the initiatives and time periods to analyze the
results of these initiatives. This work utilized Visual Studio 2003/2005/2008, MS
SQL 2000/2005, stored procedures, functions and triggers, C#, Win Forms, DTS,
EXCEL interfaced through COM and C#, PowerDesigner, Windows 2003 Server, ELUBE.
This began in July 2005 and is a continuing project.
> Fox Bright supports a medical claims system and one of their clients had a
database locking problem that was severely impacting processing. I used VPN to
access the SQL server and diagnose the blocking problem.(July 2006, March 2008)
> Priority Health needed a way to reduce the time it took for sales to get quote
information from underwriting. Working closely with sales and underwriting I
developed an Oracle database that contained products, packages and options along
with rules that described the many relationships between packages and options.
The database included pricing and rates for the options and the ability to keep
rates for employer groups and the multiple tiers that had to be quoted for each
employer group. I wrote a C++/MFC application that allowed sales to only select
valid combinations of options, input competitor rates and compare the PEPM (per
employee per month cost) with various selections without having to make repeated
trips to underwriting. This work utilized Visual Studio, C++, STL, MFC, Oracle,
SQL Station, ERWIN, SQL Plus. This project started in November 2005 and was
completed in February 2006.
> Manatron needed the data from some new customers converted from the customers
existing format to Manatron format. This work was done with SQL 2000 stored
procedures and functions. While there I also did some similar work converting
client data to a Manatron Oracle format. This work was done in April and May of
2005.

selling and multi-channel retailing organization. Their VeraBradley.com site was
among the 2007 "Hot 100 Retail Web Sites
(http://www.internetretailer.com/article.asp?id=24575)
> My primary responsibility was to monitor the application and SQL server
performance for the Vera Bradley site. I used Dynamic management views and
functions to identify problem areas. I developed a click once C# application to
monitor the daily business activity to insure that orders on the site made it
through shipping in a timely manner.
> This work utilized SQL Server 2005, OPENXML, T-SQL, Visual Studio 2008, C#,

Synergis Technology
Technical Staff
Grand Rapids, Michigan
November, 2006 – November, 2007
> At Synergis my responsibility was to support the engineering design groups.
Design was done with several versions of Unigraphics NX software. Support
consisted of maintaining, enhancing and developing user functions for the NX
software and interfacing the attributes of the design to other business systems.
I developed an SQL server database and software to capture design attributes and
create a bill of material for each design as it was being developed. The database
was capable of capturing in addition to the NX file attributes, documents from
the customers, meeting notes etc in a fully text searchable format. The details
of a design would be loaded directly into the purchasing system to order the
steels and components required to build the design. The database also supported
some production scheduling, while the software I built provided production with
easy access to design drawings and documents. VSTO (Visual Studio Tools for
Office) was used for reporting.
> This work utilized SQL Server, Visual Studio .NET, Visual Studio 2003, Visual
Studio 2005, C#, C++, UGS (NX2, NX3[GM toolkit], NX4, NX5), .NET 1.1, .NET 2.0,
Win32 API and Syteline, VSTO, Windows .NET Forms and controls, Power Designer.
Siemens (formerly Rapistan, currently Dematic)
Senior Database Administration, Client Server Developer
Grand Rapids, Michigan
July 2000 – September 2004
> I was responsible for SQL Server Management that provided with confidence data
availability, and fast performance. This availability and performance provided
developers with an environment that they could count on to complete projects
within deadlines. This work utilized SQL Server 7.0, SQL Server 2000, Windows NT,
Windows 2000, PowerDesigner, DTS, Tivoli.
> In addition to being the SQL Server DBA I took on a number of application
development projects.
* Developed a PC Pool Management application and database that managed a pool of
2500 PCs. This accomplishment reduced the effort to find machines at end of lease
by 50%, eliminated 99% of the effort to allocate PC costs to appropriate
departments, and reduced the manpower necessary to manage computer hardware. This
application utilized SQL Server 2000, Visual Studio 2003, C++, STL, MFC, OLEDB,
PowerDesigner, Lotus Notes C API, Novel CAPI, Active Directory, LDAP, Sockets,
COM, and EXCEL.
* Developed a corporate directory database that harvested information about
employees from Human Resources, Payroll, Novell, Lotus Notes and Active
Directory. This accomplishment allowed applications that previously had to
maintain their own copies of this data to eliminate the code associated with this
activity. It permitted new applications to be developed knowing that this
information was available and current saving development cost and maintenance
dollars. This application utilized SQL Server 2000, Visual Studio 2003, C++, STL,
MFC, OLEDB, PowerDesigner, Lotus Notes C API, Novel C API, Active Directory,
ADSI, LDAP, Sockets, COM, and EXCEL.
* Migrated data from mainframe applications to SQL Server and provided an
application that allowed clients to use this information for reporting, research
and to satisfy customer requests. This reduced the load of special reports
required from an aging mainframe and allowed fast reaction by Siemens personnel
to customer requests for information. This project exploited MS Office Automation
and produced over 300 different EXCEL spreadsheets for the clients to use. This
application utilized SQL Server 2000, Visual Studio 2003, C++, STL, MFC, OLEDB,
PowerDesigner, Active Directory, DL/I, COM, and EXCEL.
* Assisted with the SQL in porting the HR/Payroll system from ULTIPRO to People
Soft.
* Used the SAP .NET connecter to move SAP data to the SQL server.

> I provided a Part Search Replacement application which eliminated the most
chronic complaint with the MM2 system. This improvement provided the sales staff
with unqualified customer references and the extra value to close new business.
This work utilized Borland C++, STL, Oracle, and Raima.
> I ported the MM2 Oracle product to Sybase which enabled the MM2 application to
be available to another group of customers and enabled AIT to acquire at least
one major new account. This work utilized Borland C++, Oracle and Sybase.
> I provided integration applications for MM2 (the AIT product) and Maximo
(built by somebody else). This eased the upgrade process for both products at a
major AIT customer. The customer’s not so “standard” installation of Maximo was
different at each plant. This integration used the Oracle catalog to resolve
differences and automatically account for them allowing this customer to continue
using the MM2 product without AIT having to custom build a version of the product
for each plant saving many dollars in development and maintenance costs for both
AIT and their customer. This work utilized Borland C++, STL and Oracle.
