Established Supervisor Training Programs including Performance Management,
Hiring and Interviewing Training, Workplace Accident Reporting. Conducted
training programs for Executive, Mid-Level, and Line Management.
Counseled Line Employees and Management on labor laws and regulations and
supervisory skills in both formal and informal sessions and group and individual
sessions.
Established/Updated Human Resources Policies, many of which were out of date
at the time I joined the company.
Active leader and participant in Safety Committee during a time period that
resulted in a retro-premium refund of in excess of $200,000.
Recruited management level individuals including European based sales
executive and Plant Manager for remote Michigan location.

instituting new policies and procedures for packing and shipping product and

allow for reallocation of manpower to meet shifting priorities.
Increase shipping efficiency in terms of output per hour of labor by 33%.

Established measurements to allow for plan to reduce tie and steel inventory
from in excess of three months to one month total inventory over a four month

from Michigan operation into Kansas City headquarters as part of a cost reduction

Established 60 day purchasing forecast by part number for cash flow estimating

$500,000 in positive cash flow over a one month period.
Established reporting in excess inventories, identify slow moving obsolete

Recommended change in method of accounting for freight allowances to allow
better tracking and less manual effort by accounting department (in process of

Human Resources
Established and conducted regular training on Human Resources Policies in a
variety of settings with both management and non-exempt employees.
Led the development of Employee Orientation and Safety Training program.
Established state funded supervisory skills training program.
Established a pro-active Human Resource function in a company that previously
did not have a Human Resources Department.
Handled all litigation involving Title VII, Workers Compensation, and other
Human Resource issues with outside counsel.
Established companys first Affirmative Action Plan.
Major contributor to Training Grant Application with State of Idaho which
resulted in the company obtaining $800,000 in training grants from the State to
facilitate expansion.
Established Safety Committees.
Department was responsible for FLSA, ADA, ERISA, HIPPA, OSHA, and Indiana
Department of Environmental Management compliance among other regulatory
requirements.
Negotiated with vendors on benefits plan pricing and design.
Familiar with self-insured an insured benefits plans.
Lead numerous sensitive Human Resource investigations. Resolved almost all of
them without complaints being filed with governmental agencies. Never had the
EEOC find any cause in any complaints filed with them as we fully investigated
and took appropriate actions when complaints were received.
Operations
Served as Interim General Manager for the Thor Indiana Division of Dutchmen
from March 1996 to May 1997 with responsibilities for daily oversight of Human
Resources, Production, Purchasing, Sales, Transportation, Maintenance, and
Accounting for an approximately 150 employee operation. During this period, the
Division went from losing money to making a profit.
Established the Companys first cross-departmental Quality Meetings and Safety
Committee inspections.
Involvement in OSHA compliance and inspections.
Proposed a plant reorganization which when partially undertaken resulted in
$500,000 annually in savings and increased capacity.
Developed changes in plant pay structures.
Part of Strategic Planning process for the company.
Reviewed facilities needs and negotiated plant purchases, construction,
leases, and sales.
Developed efficiency measures to fit with the companys systems of pay and
operations.
Information Technology
Negotiated the purchase of and supervised the implementation of an IP
Telephony system which generated in excess of $100,000 annually in savings.
Pushed for the implementation of up to date backup systems, UPS System, and
Server Room Temperature and Humidity Control Systems.
Oversaw several Accounting Systems upgrades.
Oversaw several server and operating systems upgrades.
Oversaw the implementation of a Wide Area Network to allow geographically
spread facilities access to information.
Negotiated with vendors on numerous projects.

Controller, and Internal Auditor.

Merged four companies into one over a two year time period to shorten closing
process and generate significant savings on state licenses and forms and a
reduction in staffing.

performing to expectations while improving the relationship with that vendor so
the long standing relationship was maintained and performance improved.
