SKILLS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
* Developed new polyether and polyester polyol resin products and assorted
toll products per customer requirements. Synthesized samples in lab then scaled
up to full sized reaction batches.
* Improved formulation methodology to allow easy interconversion among
products of similar chemistry, simplifying plant inventory and reducing costs.
* Supervised R&D and QC labs. Introduced new wet chemical test methods and GC
methods, verified method validity and taught methods to staff. Implemented
computer data base and statistical control charting.
* Performed environmental record keeping and reporting including TRI, Sara
Tier II, state chemical release survey, wastewater self monitoring, and NPDES
discharge reporting. Prepared permit renewals for wastewater and stormwater.
* Created and implemented the major part of both Process Safety Management and
Risk Management programs including written policies, procedures and training
materials.
* R&D efforts with large manufacturer of polyester polyols resulted in US
Patent 4,897,429. Formulated polyol of this patent into a laminate board product
and ran extensive plant trials to generate test data for support of marketing and
field sales.
* Formulated FM Class I isocyanurate/urethane roof insulation panel utilizing
designed experiments, determined product configuration, and assisted product
startup in three green field laminate foam plants on time and under budget.
Provided technical support to plants after startup and helped in attaining a
99.9%+ job efficiency.
* Major cost reductions for roof panel through density reduction, reduced
facer saturation and increased line speed, ultimately reduced product cost by
