Board member, A Child’s Garden Charter School, Louisburg, NC (2000-2004)
As one of the founding board members I played an active role in the charter
application process including research for and writing application to State Board
of Education and designing format of final documents. Office duties included
keeping track of student admissions, interviewing and hiring directors, teachers
and other staff, as well as planning and budgeting for appropriate campus
facilities. During the schools inaugural year I worked as the school’s secretary
organizing and creating the schools office procedures. This position also allowed
me to take an active role in parent/ school relations and staff supervision.
During this time I also set up and ran an on campus before and after school care
program for students based on the mission and philosophy of the school.

Responsibilities included hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of
cocktail waitresses, food servers and program personnel; tracking program sales,
inventory of boutique and planning and decorating for special events. Also
assisted Dayshift manager with staffing as needed.

Food Server
Responsible for providing food service to customers and employees. Required
simultaneously serving employees, making sure meals were delivered according to
appointed break times and providing outstanding customer service to guests.

Responsible for tracking student attendance, filing student records, answering
phones, and assisting the director with various administrative tasks including
budgeting and reporting for various grants.
