OFFICE EXPERIENCE
Training Specialist
ReliaStar Insurance Co.
Jackson, MN
ReliaStar Insurance Company Claims Center was a new claim center and I was
involved in the planning many of the aspects of the new claim center. We selected
and hired 200 employees from a field of over 1000 applicants. I assisted in the
review and initial selection of applicants to be tested and interviewed for the
claim processor and customer service positions. I facilitated the orientation of
new employees: employment forms, certification of identification, and tax
withholding forms.
As the trainings specialist, I developed the training materials for support
positions including: receptionist, mail room personnel, executive secretary, and
file room personnel. I trained over 200 the new employees in the fundamentals of
medical insurance processing with a class size of 20 new employees. I also
trained some of the experienced claim processors to become customer service
representatives.
The training was delivered to two different levels of training materials,
beginning procedures and advanced procedures, with the beginning class meeting in
the morning and the other advanced class meeting in the afternoon.
To improve the productivity and accuracy of the claim being processed, I
developed data collection forms and procedures to track the trends. The results
showed what skills were weak and what skills required retraining.

meet the graduation requirements of the program.
Student organization advisor 2002-2007
Met with the student officers before each meeting to plan the agenda and review
the organization budget. I also coached students for their annual competitive
events competition. I supervised the fundraising events and each year trained the
new group of organization officers.
Student organization, board member 2003-2007
As a board member, I assisted in the budgeting and planning of the annual
competitive events conference. The annual competitive events conference hosted
250 college students in the office and accounting careers. The planning involved
contracting judges for the events, scheduling events so all students could
participate in events without conflicts. The members of the board were
responsible for making arrangements for 250 students and 50 faculty members for
the three day event. The 100 different competitive events were judged and award
plaques were awarded to the top three students in each event.
Professional organization for business educators, state board member 2002-2004
This is a professional organization serves as a networking group for teachers.
It is also a place where the teachers find out about new trends and teaching
techniques. We were also active in working with the state legislature regarding
issues that affected the high school business education curriculum. As a state
board, we were able to initiate legislation regarding licensure requirements for
keyboarding teachers. As a state board member, I assisted with the budgeting and
planning the events for the 200 business education teachers at the annual
meetings.
TRANSFERRABLE SKILLS
Production, Inspection, Quality Control Position
Unisys, Printed Circuit Board Plant
Jackson, MN
Worked at a computer circuit board facility, where I inspected completed printed
circuit boards comparing them to blueprints, to assure the proper components were
placed in the correct location and correct torque applied. Also verified the
soldering of components met company specifications.
As a quality control inspector, I served on the Total Quality Management
team which identified necessary changes to the production process. I charted and
identify error trends in the production and recommended documentation changes. I
created production line flow charts to revise the production process and reduce
redundancy.
One of the biggest changes I participated in was the change from a warehouse of
inventory to Just-In-Time production, this reduced the volume of inventory
required, only ordering inventory needed to complete current orders. This
resulted in reduction of excess inventory and cost and was a huge change in
production philosophy.
