Involved with O/S upgrades, PTF installation and application, networking, on
call support, DASD upgrades, and maintaining overall system health and
performance. Interfaced with upper management to report system metrics and
analysis. Was responsible for upgrading all vendor software utilities
(Implementer, DBU, Robot, and various others) for the iSeries platform. Designed
and developed high level programs and utilities to aid in streamlining and
automating system administration functions. Configured TCP/IP and multiple
network interfaces. Hardware administered included an i595 frame with multiple
LPARs using the Hardware Management Console. Also supported Vision Solution’s
mirroring application. Heavily involved with disk-to-disk- to-tape (Virtual
Media) conversion to external EMC storage, thru BRMS. Responsible for meeting
service level agreements and availability targets for systems and technical
platforms.

12/91 – 9/03 Information Systems Consultant
For Novartis Pharmaceuticals (7/01 – 9/03):
Responsible for maintaining applications utilized in the drug and
pharmaceutical industry. Provided solutions for new development requests and
provided production support to existing applications. Worked directly with the
business and end users to resolve production issues, design and develop
enhancements to the existing systems. Worked closely with the business users
while supporting Contract Administration, Rebates, Government Pricing, Rebates,
and Contracts, Designed and developed the Best Price Possible application for
Government Reporting. Maintained and developed applications that are client
server based utilizing the AS400 in a Data Warehousing environment. Applications
for the end user were accessed through an NT Citrix Server interface and required
a high level of reliability and availability. Later became involved with
conversion to CPCC and also supported the EDI application and interface.
Development was done in CL, COBOL (including ILE), Visual Basic, DB2/400, RPG and
SQL. Change control was managed through MKS-Implementer.
For Bell Atlantic (7/98 –7/01): Worked as part of a team that converted a
mainframe based workers compensation system to ATS (a PC based client/server
system). Designed and converted existing OS/2 LAN to WinNT Server 4.0
environment, including a high-speed connection to the Internet. Was responsible
for various other corporate wide projects including Corporate Benefits.
Implemented and configured TCP/IP on the AS400. Designed and developed a user
interface for automated file transfer via FTP. This automated system would also
read the FTP generated logs and notify the operator of failed transfers.
Transfers were processed via a dedicated T1 line and also securely across the
Internet. Also was responsible for all software development, operating system
upgrades as well as all hardware configurations and migrations. Designed and
developed AS400 applications and ad-hoc user requested reports pertaining to
corporate benefits, open enrollment and insurance. Provided employee and
dependent demographic and statistical information. Design and Development was
done both in CL, RPG and COBOL with imbedded and stand alone SQL.

For NYNEX Corporation (7/92 – 7/98): converted existing PC based employee
benefits system From Microsoft C and Clipper to RPG400. Also converted an IBM
Mainframe based benefits compliance testing system from SAS/C with embedded SQL
to RPG400. Was responsible for all aspects of the AS/400 system administration,
system security, system upgrades (hardware & software), application design,
application development, and communications. Defined and established
communication links to remote and locally attached PC networks using both AS/400
Client Access and OS/2 Communication Manager. Designed and established network
communication links to remote S/370 mainframe systems for 3270 emulation,
SPLS/400, and LU6.2 communications. Programming was done in both RPG400 and
COBOL400. Installed and configured NDM (LU6.2 & IP) for the AS400 and assisted
the mainframe systems support with configuring the mainframe side of the
interface. Was involved with the VTAM and LU definitions as well as RACF
modifications required to build the NDM interface. Was responsible for all file
transfers from and to the AS400 using both NDM and FTP. Installed and configured
an NDM environment for OS/2 and for Windows NT Server to interface with the
mainframe NDM environment. Created batch routines to send and retrieve data from
the mainframe. Configurations and file transfers were made to both internal and
external hosts. Scheduled and implemented all system activities including backup
procedures, operating system upgrades and hardware configurations. Programming
was done both in CL, RPG and COBOL.
For Nestle Foods Corporation (5/92 – 8/92): designed and developed conversion
programs to be used in converting old financial applications (A/P and G/L) to new
application formats. Provided support for Global A/P , PO, and Computer
Associates G/L systems for the corporate headquarters in addition to 20 plants
and warehouses.
Modified and developed APPC programs to transmit G/L transactions from
warehouses and plants to the corporate headquarters. Programming was done in
CL, RPG400 and COBOL400.
For New York Telephone(12/91 – 7/98): designed and programmed RPG400 programs to
interface with the 3270 SNUF API (utilizing LU6.2protocols). These communication
programs allowed an AS/400 program to retrieve host screen information without
any need for programming on the host (screen scraping).
