System Architect and lead developer for a software startup. Our products are
real-time application performance management applications, delivered on Linux
appliances.
•	 Developed a research project into an enterprise-class, production ready
system, including web-based GUI, structured application design, background
maintenance tasks to allow robust 24x7 operation, and both internal and user
documentation. 
•	The system is developed on the open-source LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL,
Perl/PHP) base.  It written in a combination of Perl, C/C++, and shell.  I
designed and wrote most of the scripts for system installation, configuration,
operations and maintenance as well as much of the core application itself – all
in Perl.
•	Designed and implemented a Perl plug-in architecture to allow rapid
development and deployment of custom application analysis modules.
•	Led the team that delivered a web monitoring application to a Fortune 100
client.  It has been monitoring 50M transactions daily.
•	Architected and led the implementation an even more ambitious project –
monitoring 60M transactions per hour at 6 locations and then correlating them to
show one-way latency.

Raritan Computers, Somerset, New Jersey	2003 – 2005
Systems Engineer and Architect
Hired to start new Systems Engineering and Architecture group.  Responsibilities
include defining new solution requirements and system specifications; create
common product family architectures, protocols, engineering standards and
processes; investigate new technologies to keep the company’s products
competitive.
•	Architected new flagship KVM-over-IP product and managed the development from
inception to successful launch in less than 12 months. This product generated
rave industry reviews and within six months of introduction generated 20+% of
corporate revenue ($ 7-digits).
•	Defined features and specifications for industry-leading, enterprise-class
Element Management System. This product landed multiple new million dollar
customers.
•	Introduced and incorporated two new best practice methodologies into our CMMI
development process: requirements management (DOORS) and design with UML
(Rhapsody). These led to higher quality, better communications and shortened
development intervals.
•	Expanded the group to 7 senior Systems Engineers; the group is continuously
improving the quality of Raritan’s products by delivering timely, thorough, and
high-quality specifications.
