Senior Vice President, Data Warehouse and Information Management (CitibankNAIT)
Responsible for the design, development and implementation of a multi-terabyte
data warehouse in the retail banking business through the entire SDLC lifecycle.
Manage an initiative to aggregate disparate financial and operational data, both
real-time and batch, from more than 60 sources; cleanse and augment the data;
employ lexical services to standardize the meanings of the data system-wide;
warehouse the data; and present the data for analysis using data mining and
business intelligence applications in order to provide enhanced decision support
capabilities.
Responsibilities include:
• Primary oversight of development, data architecture (analysis and modeling),
metadata repository development and quality assurance as well as management of
offshore development resources
• Participate in the RFP process and evaluating vendor technologies for both
hardware and software

Structured Content, a new spin-off company to externally market Hearst’s
40-year-old core competencies in aggregating product and technical data, provided
data engineering services to businesses that needed to organize, transform, and
enrich data for a variety of purposes, from enterprise system implementation
(e.g., ERP, PDM, CRM, etc.) to data-driven strategic initiatives in the B2B and
B2C domains.
Chief Architect
Responsibilities included business process analysis and documentation. Rapid
prototyping and proof of concept development. Detailed level design. Custom
software design, development, and integration. Design of content syndication
software and integration with proprietary and commercial systems. Designed and
managed the offshore development of a suite of data engineering tools used by
clients for data integration, collection, classification, aggregation, cleansing,
augmentation and master data management. Actively participated in all phases of
a data engineering effort at a leading Oil Field Services equipment manufacturer
and a leading Pharmaceutical manufacturer.

The Hearst Corporation is one of the largest diversified media companies in the
world. Hearst Business Media (HBM) operates approximately 20 B2B information
services, databases, and publications, most notably in the automotive,
electronic, and pharmaceutical industries.
Senior Technologist 2000-2001
Worked as a technical strategist within Hearst Business Media. Involved in
acquisitions and startups. Evaluated technology of companies that were the
target of acquisitions. Managed and participated in the development of prototype
and proof-of-concept technologies that would form the foundation of new
businesses for Hearst. Structured Content (above) was a startup based partly on
data engineering technology I was responsible for developing.
Development Manager 1995-1998
Led a team in the development of subscription-based, electronic (web and CD-ROM)
versions of over 20 B2B information services, databases, and publications.
Created custom reporting packages for tracking usage of advertising-driven
content. Created a high-speed parametric search engine for which the Hearst
Corporation was awarded a patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office.
