PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Reuters America / Thomson Reuters New York, NY
Software Engineer, 2007-2009
Designed, developed, updated and deployed robust back-end and middle-tier
components using C# and T-SQL. Created and maintained operation manuals, release
documentation, and design documentation. Implemented Agile development practices
such as TDD and iterative development.
• Improved performance of the Chat Exporter component by 94% (from 13 hours
running time to 45 minutes) by locating and repairing inefficient code.
• Improved capacity of CFS (a daily Compliance export component) by over 30% by
re-designing and re-implementing parts of the code to use less memory.
• Reduced support costs by adding improved error handling to CFS, resulting in
significantly fewer Operations interventions and less man-hours spent
investigating problems in cases of failure.
Software Quality Assurance Engineer, 2003-2006
Tested all aspects of user-facing, back-end and middle-tier components,
including manual and automated testing (using in-house tools), covering
functionality, performance, and capacity. Performed result analysis, bug
tracking, and resolution support. Created and maintained documentation for test
requirements, plans, and results.
• Discovered over 2,500 new bugs in the Reuters Messaging client (~40% of all
issues raised), resulting in better software quality and reduced support costs
• Created scripts to aid in data collection and reporting, decreasing bug
analysis and repair verification time by 5-10%
• Pre-screened and cross-referenced all incoming bug reports, reducing
management workload.
