PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Upgrade/Migration of EBS 11i to R12 in 10g Data Guard Configuration: Upgraded
EBS 11.5.10.2 on Database 9.2 to R12.0.6 on Database 10.2.0.4. Modules included
Financials, Projects, eAM, Manufacturing, Time & Labor, and Purchasing. Migrated
EBS from a Tru64 to HP-UX Itanium platform and transformed the architecture to
achieve high availability and scalability. Converted database from
single-instance to RAC and storage to the Oracle Applications Tablespace Model,
installed multiple Apps tiers front-ended by an F5 LTM, implemented Parallel
Concurrent Processing, and configured Grid Control with the Apps pack for EBS for
end-to-end monitoring.
Migration/Upgrade of AS10g from Single-Tier to High Availability Configuration:
Migrated and upgraded single-tier Application Server to HA 10g OracleAS Cluster
(Identity Management) behind F5 LTM with RAC Metadata Repository. Integrated OID
with Microsoft Active Directory and set up Single Sign-On for Portal and EBS R12.
Mid-tier components migrated included Portal, Forms, and Discoverer for EBS.
Oracle Applications and Core DBA: Consulted for four years where installed,
maintained, monitored, and did troubleshooting for Oracle EBS 11i, RAC databases,
10gAS, Grid Control, and Data Guard. Implemented Grid Control in a highly
available configuration. Cloned databases with RMAN. Mentored client DBAs.
Database Migration Assessment: Completed large scoping engagement for a global
markets and investment banking giant to migrate all MS SQL and Sybase databases
to Oracle.
Migration of EBS 11.5.10.2 in 10g Data Guard Configuration, AS10g, Oracle
Warehouse Builder 10.1.0.2, Oracle Express Server 6.3.4, Oracle Financial
Analyzer and Custom Applications: Provided architectural direction and
implementation support for one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the
world in their migration of all Oracle environments from Europe to the USA.
Subsequently converted their Oracle EBS environment to RAC.
11.0.3 to 11.5.10.2 Upgrade Tuning: Provided Oracle and O/S tuning
recommendations for upgrading 500GB Oracle 11.0.3 on 8.1.7 to 11.5.10.2 on 9.2
running VOS (Veritas, Oracle, Solaris). Helped reduce upgrade time from 130 to 80
hours by tuning SQL upgrade scripts, adjusting database initialization
parameters, OS, TCP and Oracle network parameters and storage characteristics.
Estimated size for and generated SQL scripts to add new tablespaces and resize
existing datafiles for 11.5.10 environment.
10g R2 Grid Control to Manage E-Business Suite 11.5.10: Installed and configured
Grid Control, the Plug-In for Oracle Applications and all Management Packs. Set
up 2-node RAC Repository database, modeled EBS as a Service with System and Web
Applications components, and managed EBS production environment at go-live.
Architecture Assessment: Reviewed entire Oracle IT infrastructure of one of the
largest privately held companies. Recommended database and security best
practices, new 9i and 10g features, HA and disaster recovery solution
architectures including RAC, Data Guard, Flashback, RMAN and Grid Control.
Oracle 9.2 DSS Performance Tuning: Provided Oracle and O/S tuning
recommendations for a 28TB Oracle data warehouse running VOS (Veritas, Oracle,
Solaris). Provided recommendations to reduce CPU and I/O bottlenecking, raising
performance to SLA levels for queries and Ab Initio parallel loads of 1GB per
day.
Oracle Databases & Oracle Applications 11.0.3: Performed a security assessment
of Oracle databases and an Oracle Applications 11.0.3 environment on Solaris 5.9.
Extended recommendations to educate the Corporate Security team on best practices
to meet strict security requirements for Windows and UNIX platforms at the
database, listener, E-Business Suite, operating system and network security
layers. Wrote project plan and detailed how-to steps to implement it across 900
database environments. Recommendations were critical in assisting client to pass
both internal and Sarbanes Oxley security audits.
10g RMAN: Implemented Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) 10.1.0.4 backup and
recovery strategy using a recovery catalog on Red Hat 3.0 AS for 9i and 10g RAC,
single-instance and Data Guard primary and standby database targets. For 10g
target databases, configured a Flash Recovery Area, Flashback Database and block
change tracking. Wrote scripts for all backup and recovery scenarios.
10g Grid Control: Implemented Grid Control on Red Hat. Set up infrastructure for
high availability, including multiple Management Servers, Repository in Data
Guard configuration, and server load balancers. Put 100+ database targets under
Grid Control monitoring/management including 10g and 9i RAC, single-instance and
Data Guard environments.
11.5.10 Financials, Manufacturing, Order Management, Procurement, Supply Chain
Planning: Installed E-Business Suite on HP-UX. Also configured Demand Planning,
Workflow Notification Mailer, Discoverer 4i, iSupplier Portal, Mobile Supply
Chain Applications (MSCA).
11.5.9 Human Resources, SSL: Assisted with worldwide rollout of HRMS Oracle
E-Business Suite on AIX 5.2. Configured SSL for Oracle Database, Oracle HTTP
Server, Portal 3.0.9 and Login Server with E-Business Suite.
9i Oracle Data Guard, 11.5.8 E-Business Suite: Configured Data Guard for Oracle
Applications environment on HP Tru64. Followed Maximum Availability Architecture
(MAA) best practices; demonstrated switchover, failover and failback procedures
based on detailed documentation procedures I developed.
Oracle Applications and Core DBA: Full-time senior technical consultant for
Oracle Preferred Partner technology firm. Supported client technical staff and
other IT contractors. Installed, upgraded, tuned, maintained, monitored and did
troubleshooting of Oracle Applications and databases in OLTP, DSS and VLDB
environments. Carried out UNIX and Windows system administration tasks,
implemented backup and recovery and disaster recovery solutions, did custom
programming in SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, UNIX and NT shell scripting, performed security
audits, mentored and trained client DBAs and directed other DBA consultants.
Worked with clients from the following industries: Aerospace and Defense,
Consumer Products, Education, Financial Services, Healthcare, High
Technology/Electronics, Hospitality, Insurance, Manufacturing, Retail, Services
Industries, Transportation, Utilities and Wholesale Distribution.
