• Responsible for the design and prototyping for new and/or existing systems
including the development of program specifications and test plans.
• Responsible for moderately complex applications.
• Evaluated and provided technical solutions to moderately complex application
development problems. Coded, tested, debugged, and documented the applications.
• Used Abendaid for identifying and resolving abends.
• Used IBM DEBUG for development and testing of application module changes.
Gained an understanding of the complexities involved in the insurance industry
processes:
• Insurance is regulated at the State level.
• Policies are processed at a Regional Level (geographic groups of states).
• Policy Rating is based on multiple factors mainly Driver attributes and
Vehicle attributes.
• Some of the Driver attributes are: Age, Marital status, Children, Number of
years Driving, Driving Habits (miles to and from work), Credit Rating (from
commercial Credit Reporting agencies), Driving Record from the Department of
Motor Vehicles (Minor and Major Moving violations and Accidents).
• Some of the Vehicle attributes are Vehicle Make Model and Year, Vehicle Cost
Class (determined from an external process), and vehicle garaging location if
different from policy holder’s address.
• All costing of policy attributes are based on pricing tables maintained by a
separate group within the company (Pricing Group) separate from the Policy and
Rating team. This group is responsible for all modifications to the pricing
tables used by the Policy and Rating applications used to generate customer

Wendy's International Inc., Dublin, Ohio 43017 1985 – Sept. 2006
Systems Engineer-2001-2006
• Designed Inside/Pick up Window Customer Service Timer Application. I was
responsible for defining the Database that the information from the Point of
Sales Cash Registers would be loaded into as well as the load program that
processed the data and maintained a rolling 7 days (1 business week) database of
transaction level data. This information was used to produce multiple hierarchy
level reports for management reporting.
• Designed new Prior Days Missed Polling processing application. Prior to this
we only polled prior business day’s polling and we didn’t have a mechanism for
polling back information more than 24 hours old. This application sent a file via
our XCOM file send software of stores and dates that previously had not been
returned to the corporate Host machine. Our Remote-Ware communication server’s
then attempted to return the requested stores and dates of data back to the
corporate headquarters. This data was verified, and processed into our period to
date Point of Sales TLOG binary files for use by other applications.
• Designed 3 new CICS transactions to add additional customer requested
main-frame Ad-hoc reporting applications. The 1st new transaction was a customer
created DB2 Based Product Group Matrix that was the input to the Order
Composition Analysis Application. The 2nd new CICS transaction was to allow the
Marketing Department to supply report content variables and submit the Order
Composition Analysis Report on hold for batch execution after normal business
hours and one the week-ends. This function had previously been done exclusively
by the development staff. The 3rd new CICS transaction was to also allow the
Marketing Department to supply report content variables and submit the Average
Product Check-Size Report on hold for batch execution to be run after hours and
on the week-ends.
• Designed a new series of applications that extracted product food item data at
the transaction level as well as sales and financial summaries (Sales, Tax,
Coupons, Discounts, Manager and Employee Meals etc.) wrapping each individual
store’s data with Header and Footer delimiters and transmitting this bulk file to
a Server that was maintained by our Business partner E-Restaurants. A program on
the server would then parse each store’s data into an individual file folder for
subsequent processing.
• Extracted Daily Operational Sales DB2 Data into Management Reports for Online
Viewing, Hardcopy printouts and E-Mail notifications twice daily (early flash
reports available by 07:00AM and Final Reports available by 10:30AM.
• A major modification to this application entailed modifying multiple modules
to allow for 53 week fiscal accounting period that occurs once every 5 years.
• Extracted Point of Sales Data into summarized Point of Sales DB2 Data Base by
Product and Day-part, and 1/2 hourly Sales increments.
• Extracted Point of Sales Data Base into Sequential Financial Period Files as
input to the Product Mix Analysis Application System.
• Extracted Product Mix data for Product Mix Analysis Reports on a Daily,
Weekly, Fiscal Period, Quarterly, Year to Date and Fiscal Year End Reports.
• Extracted Product Mix Analysis data for Theoretical Food Cost Reports for
upper management.
• Extensive modifications to the Theoretical Food Cost Reports from 2 processing
and send sessions to 6 sessions. This allowed for stores that reside on the East
Coast of the United States to start receiving their reports prior to the stores
10:00AM opening time. Each successive time zone of stores was processed and sent
as soon as the Point of Sales Data was available.
• Extracted Point of Sale Data into Store Operations Reports. These reports were
made available for Corporate On-line viewing and Hard copy distribution as well
as pushing reports to our store via the Report Distribution Application and our
Remote-ware Communication Servers. This was accomplished moving the Reports from
the mainframe point of origin to the Servers via our XCOM communications
Software.
• Extracted Point of Sales Data into Store Labor Analysis Reports.
