Summary
I am an experienced secretary with over 50 years of experience in the
secretarial field. I retired in December of 2006, and am interested in
continuing providing my various skills as a virtual independent contractor. I am
not restricted to working as many hours as necessary to complete tasks assigned
to me. I have broadband internet, and, thus, my phone service is not impeded.
Employment History
Morrow County Sheriff's Office, Mt. Gilead, OH - 2000-2006
Program Officer
I was employed as a part-time employee, having been semi-retired for some time.
As Program Officer, I was entrusted with the Inmate Trust Fund, opening and
inspecting inmate mail for any contraband, balancing the Inmate Trust Fund bank
statements, and ordering all inmate commissary items. I also had the
responsibility of posting cash receipts to the inmates' accounts. When inmates
were released, I wrote the checks for any funds left in their accounts. We also
had a Social Security program for the inmates, which I had to do at the end of
each month. A separate screen was provided for each inmate's information, and
all the data was transmitted electronically to the Social Security office.
My skill as to alphanumeric typing was essential to the success of this
program.
I was responsible for payout of the invoices from the commissary provider,
making sure that the invoices were correct as to what was received.
I also was secretary to the Jail Administrator, and answered the phones for both
the Jail Administration Office and for the Sheriff's Office. My position
required me to have knowledge to resolve many phone calls without involving
someone else.
Morrow County Adult Probation Office - 1998 to 1999
Secretary
Before employment at the Morrow County Sheriff's Office, I was secretary to two
Probation Officers. My duties were to schedule probationers' meetings, answering
the phones, and typing various reports and letters, and also taking minutes of
Department meetings.
Beery & Spurlock, LTD - 1986 to 1995
I was Secretary to Paul Beery, Senior Law Partner. In addition to the standard
legal tasks, our law firm was involved in the largest antitrust law suit ever
tried in the United States. The trial was heard in the Federal District Court in
Philadelphia, and lasted for two months. Our firm was housed in Philadelphia for
that period. It was my responsibility to type all documents and motions utilized
at trial.
My employment history and experience are quite lengthy. Listed below are brief
descriptions of my places of employment:
Eight years as Administrative Assistant at Desert Springs Hospital, Las Vegas,
NV. I was Administrative Assistant to the Administrator and Assistant
Administrator. I was also Medical Staff Secretary, and Recording Secretary to
the Board of Directors.
Over sixteen years as Senior Secretary in the Metallurgical Department of
Battelle Columbus Laboratories. Most of the work generated at BCL was classified
and cannot discuss. However, I held secret clearances from the then Atomic
Energy Commission and the Department of Defense.
