Description --- This is a large bank in USA needs to continue business depend on
various in-house/3rd party developed mainframe based applications which needs to
be executed flawlessly. The most demanding applications are Data warehouse,
Automated Clearing House, General Ledger, Savings and Demand deposits, Online
banking and Instalment Loans.
Role----As a part of DB2 DBA application support team, I am responsible for the
following areas:
• Responsible for Production support/maintenance and consulting of large DB2
data based applications in z/OS platform.
• Primary DBA for Data-Warehouse applications consists of 4 production database,
4 QA and 12 Development and test databases in two different LPAR. It is a
data-sharing environment. There is more than 10TB of uncompressed data in
production.
• 24X7 on-call rotation Production support.
• Monitoring the Production batch cycles, resolved various abends, ensure smooth
execution of the production batch cycles and availability of the database.
• Responsible for backup/restore of production and test databases, table-spaces,
space forecasting and tuning of various database components.
• Data maintenance activities like REORG, Runstats, Quiesce and Recover of
different Database objects.
• Design and implement different utility modules of Load, Unload, Copy, Reorg,
Runstats process.
• Work extensively in V8 migration process, implemented V8 features in
Production like Alter-rotate tables, changing partitions from index controlled to
table controlled, using optimization features, using Multi-row cursors with
Row-set positioning, different V8 bind parameters etc.
• Monitor and manage critical z/OS resource through BMC MAINVIEW, APPTUNE
tools.
• Created and maintained DB2 PL/SQL Stored-procedures with IBM Data Studio,
analyze and tune static and dynamic SQL queries with Plan table, Visual Explain,
create and maintain MQTs.
• Worked as project DBA for developing new modules, assisting application teams
for new programs using embedded SQL queries, created and maintained
Store-procedures, enhancement of the existing applications, QMF PROCs, generated
various business related reports etc.
• Writing new application programs and updating existing modules with COBOL,
REXX, Eazytrive, embedded DB2 SQLs and JCL and implementing in Production.
• Involved in situation management and resolutions of high priority problem
tickets.
• Implements of standards for documentation of Defect logs, test plans, Activity
documents, Quality Assurance and Quality Management by way of efficiency at work
in the optimum time-frame.
