Major areas
of Performance		OCP Certified and Master Oracle DBA.  Civilian work includes
being leadc Oracle DBA on Qwest Communications flagship project with direct
reporting to CEO.  Defense Department work including analysis and design, CASE
tools, system requirements specifications, system design documentation, and
proposal work for major U.S. Navy and Air Force systems.  Experience with
web-based reporting systems, client/server programming of all types, extensive

January 2000 to June 2004
Qwest  – Employee Oracle DBA (development and production)
Lead Engineer/Oracle DBA.  Development DBA responsibilities include database
planning, database creation, database changes, database upgrades, database
migrations, database cloning, stored procedure maintenance, database links,
performance tuning, backup and recovery, etc. Wrote and maintain all backup and
recovery and database monitoring scripts. Very proficient with Oracle Designer,
BMC Patrol, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.  Write and set up Unix cron jobs.  
Was responsible for implementing Oracle’s OFA (Optimal Flexible Architecture)
standards within my department.  Mentor and train mid-level and junior DBA within
the department.  Also act as Production DBA as needed and during outtages where
responsibilities include database monitoring and tuning in 7x24 environment,
troubleshooting, and general production support.  Was promoted to highest level
DBA within Qwest and rated outstanding.

January 99 to December 99
DynCorp Intl. – Consultant Oracle DBA
Sr. Oracle DBA and Oracle Financials DBA. Install, set up, and maintain Oracle
Applications. Extensive experience applying Oracle Financials patches, setting up
new concurrent managers, and creating print servers. Responsible for Oracle
product installations, upgrades, performance tuning, backup and recovery, systems
monitoring, etc. Also performance Unix System Administration functions including
the use of SAM utility to set up and maintain Oracle kernel parameters. 
Responsible for successfully trouble-shooting a problem that occurred in the
middle of a major training exercise relating to Oracle semaphores and user
sessions parameters.

August 97 to January 99
US West – Consultant Oracle DBA
Oracle DBA duties included installation, import/export, SQL*Loader, creation of
new databases, cloning of databases, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
 Set up and maintenance of dual Oracle home (7.1.3 and 8.0.5) architectures on
same HP UX-11 box.  
 

November 1995 to July 97
US West – Consultant Engineer/Oracle DBA/4GL Programmer
Maintain Oracle development databases including the performance of day-to-day
requests from developers.  Was responsible for backup and recovery, performance
tuning, imports and exports,   and trouble shooting of several development
databases.  Also wrote many of the application modules using 4GL languages.

August 1992 to November 1995
TASC - The Analytical Sciences Corporation - Oracle DBA
Lead Oracle DBA and application project management. Installed, set up, and
maintained Oracle databases on various servers for the Air Force at Eglin AFB in
Fort Walton Beach, FL.  Performed several Sybase to Oracle database conversions. 
Also served as a developer for same projects using the ‘C’ language.  
  
1990 to 1992
MITRE - A Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) - Software
Engineer
Software Systems Engineer in support of the Joint Warfare Center (JWC) at
Hurlburt Field AFB, Florida. Duties included systems analysis and design using
CASE tools and the ‘C’ programming language.  Responsible for programming,
monitoring of JWC contractor performance, serving as consultant to the JWC
officer staff, and scientific and technical advisor to the Air Force. Analyzed,
recommended, and developed methods for integrating computer-based wargames.
Published several papers.

1987 to 1990
ERC - Evaluation Research Corporation - Systems Analyst
Lead analyst in an Internal Research and Development (IRAD) project that led to
the development of a new methodology for incrementally building large-scale
integrated systems. The methodology used system events (both external and
internal) instead of system function as a means of dividing logical and physical
system components. Primary responsibilities included the creation of logical data
models, data
normalization, and mapping of the logical model to a physical design. Created
much of the documentation for the systems built using the methodology.

1986 to 1987 
MITRE - Software Engineer
Performed analysis and design of a major new accounting and financial management
system for the Navy shore and afloat forces. Created and maintained data element,
data store, and data flow dictionaries. Performed requirements analysis and
feasibility studies. Created and maintained all of the system's data flow
diagrams using CASE tool Infomodel. Responsible for integration considerations,
software-tools evaluation and procurement recommendations. Authored two
functional description deliverables to the General Services Administration (GSA)
concerning projects.

1985 to 1986
CSC - Computer Sciences Corporation - Computer programmer 
Responsible for maintenance programming on Univac 1100 series using COBOL and
JCL.

 1985 to 1985
Coca Cola - Computer Programmer/Operator for Southeast Regional Data Center
Responsible for the on-line troubleshooting of remote sites; coordinated and
sequenced jobs to be run in order to maintain data integrity, programmed Job
Control Language (JCL) run streams, and led a software conversion process from
IBM 370 to IBM 4341. Also acted as senior operator with responsibility for
overall system operation and efficiency. Trained new employees in the usage of
these systems.
