Work experience	5/2008 – Present

Bio-Imaging Technologies, Inc. King of Prussia, PA

Senior Network Engineer

- Made a lateral move (by choice) to the role of Senior Network Engineer when
Phoenix Data Systems was purchased by Bio-Imaging Technologies Inc. in March of
2008.
- Assumed the global role of WAN engineer for Bio-Imaging including
responsibility for all MPLS-based VPN connectivity and reachability between
corporate locations.
- As Senior Network Engineer, completely redesigned and overhauled the
corporate network in the two King of Prussia campus facilities in order to
drastically improve its scalability, reliability, security and resilience.
Implementation of this project included the following major tasks:
- Provisioned and configured Cisco ASA 5510 security appliances on the edge of
the network.
- Implemented OSPF routing to replace the inadequate legacy of static routing
between corporate LANs.
- Implemented redundant Cisco Aironet 1410 wireless bridges between campus
buildings and configured QoS policies as necessary for Voice and Video traffic
prioritization.
- Replaced legacy PPTP tunnels between corporate locations with IPSec
site-to-site VPNs terminating on the external interface of the firewalls in each
location.
- Implemented end-to-end QoS (PHBs based on DSCP value in the IP header) for
upcoming installation of IP telephony in the King of Prussia campus.
- Implemented a wireless network for guest Internet access and for employee
roaming; VPN access is available from the wireless network back onto the
corporate LAN to allow secure high-speed wireless access to corporate network
resources.
- Configured centralized syslog collection monitoring and alerting to assist
with troubleshooting network issues.
- Implemented and configured MRTG and Cacti for all network devices to monitor
and graph network bandwidth utilization, availability, etc.
- Tasked with making proposals and recommendations for a secure, resilient, and
scalable network design and implementation at a future headquarters location that
will combine both King of Prussia campus facilities into one.
- Constantly work to improve, broaden and hone my technical skills and
excellence as the lead network engineer globally for Bio-Imaging Technologies,
Inc.

5/2007 – 5/2008	Phoenix Data Systems	King of Prussia, PA

IT Infrastructure Manager

- Promoted to IT Infrastructure Manager from Network Operations Engineer due to
my technical and professional excellence and achievements as well as my
leadership abilities.
- Assumed responsibility for all corporate networks and IT infrastructure
(servers, desktops, network devices, etc.)
- As change manager, took the lead role in implementing change control by
working closely with the Senior Director of IT to design an ITIL-informed change
management process.
- Managed 4 direct reports who worked together with me as a team to design,
implement and continuously improve the company’s network services and
infrastructure:
        - Database Administrator (DBA)
        - Network Systems Administrator
        - Network Technician
        - Desktop Support Technician
- Continued to grow and improve my leadership abilities by mentoring my
employees from both a technical and professional perspective.
- Continued to maintain technical excellence by assuming a pitch-in, team-based
management style where each member of the team helps out the others as needed,
and shares technical knowledge and skills across job role boundaries for the good
of the team and the company as a whole.

11/2005 – 5/2007	Phoenix Data Systems	King of Prussia, PA

Network Operations Engineer

- Designed and implemented an out-of-band management solution for all
production servers using built-in HP iLO (integrated Lights-Out) components; also
implemented and configured a separate Gigabit Ethernet backup network to keep
backup traffic off of the production network and its devices.
- Created a fully-functional backup solution for the production environment
(approximately 30 servers) using native Windows backup tools and batch scripting.
The solution includes Microsoft Exchange, SQL and IIS backup functionality as
well as reporting and archiving features.
- Designed and built highly available SQL and Terminal Server clusters using
Microsoft MSCS and NLB clustering technologies.
- Authored an extensive set of disaster recovery (DR) flowcharts that provide
step-by-step details on how to recover from all types of server and application
(SQL, Exchange 2003, IIS, Terminal Services, etc.) failures.
- Tested, configured and implemented both an agent-based (HP Systems Insight
Manager) and agent-less (GFI LANGuard Network Server Monitor 7.0) network
monitoring solution to provide real-time notification via email and cell phone
pages of service or hardware failures.
- Designed an event log reporting solution from scratch using free tools and
scripting technologies that provides daily HTML email reports of critical events
and information across all servers in the production network. The application,
security, system, web, and ftp logs are combed and analyzed daily to cull events
of interest for the daily reports, and all events are stored in a database for
later forensic analysis if the need arises.

6/2001 – 10/2005	Unisys Corporation	Malvern, PA

Applications & Architecture Analyst

- Planned, coordinated and executed our enterprise-level web server migration
from Windows 2000/IIS 5.0 to Windows 2003/IIS 6.0 including over 70
HTML/ASP-based web sites and applications
- Completely redesigned and improved our organization-wide processes and
procedures for the creation and maintenance of web applications on our new IIS
6.0 NLB cluster to provide for seamless web administration.
- Designed and implemented a SQL Server-based Windows event log reporting
system using the Quest InTrust 7.0 software package.
- Created a server backup statistics reporting application from scratch using
PERL scripts to execute native data dump commands in Legato Networker and then
import the data files into SQL Server where they could be easily manipulated into
reports using ASP.
