2008 - 2009 HANOVER INSURANCE GROUP, Insurance. Senior Business Analyst DW/BI
Developer - Worcester, MA
Business Analyst member of recently formed Enterprise Data-warehouse (EDW).
Dedicated to Commercial Lines and Personal Lines, gathering requirements to
conform subject areas for Policies, Quotes, Premiums, Claims and Billing data.
The subject areas were integrated into the Data-warehouse. The requirements
included the reporting needs for the created Data-warehouse.
Personal Lines
Gathered requirements for the MVR Order Activity Report. Established key
Metrics for agent MVR 's requests (Metric Studio) versus new business issued.
Provided with business requirements and technical specifications for the data
model (Framework) and report layout (Report Studio. Created and prepared the
project and corresponding package to be published in the production environment.
The requirements included the scheduling and printing of the Agent 's Statement
report for distribution.
Based on the requirements gathered, proceeded to develop several key reports
for the MVR Operational group. Reports were based in both relational and
dimensional models. Pages (Dashboards) for quick analysis were created using
prompts (linked to transactional reports) and several graphical Cognos tools.

Commercial Lines
Interviewed several key CL Vice-presidents, Underwriters and Actuaries to
gather and define business data elements requirements (BRs, definitions, names
etc) and priorities for the CL Auto Details project.
Following the company 's BA best practices created several BA deliverables
such as the BA Strategy, Conceptual Data Model (CDM), Business Data Elements List
(BDE), Business Requirements Document (BRD), Data Dictionary, Traceability
Matrix, Security Review, Peer Review Checklist and required Signoffs (business
reviewed and approved the BA documentation). Comply with all the audits by
keeping up-to-date the SharePoint repository for the project.
Constantly analyzed, estimated, logged and monitored changes to the
requirements which had an impact in the existing DW and the Business Objects
reporting environment.
Several meetings with the development team were held to review and approve
the technical designs to assure they met the Business Requirements. The technical
documentation included detailed DW Database Diagrams, resource planning,
timelines, mappings design, QA Activities and other considerations.
Researched data from different source systems such as Policy Management
System (PMS) and Point Of Sale (POS). Created detailed information for valid
values and their business definition. This helped defining sources, loads,
transformations and target tables for the Informatica 's mappings creation.
Created documentation for testing using Mercury Quality Center. The Business
Scenarios included cases for the ETL and Reporting.
Gathered detail requirements for ad-hoc reporting such as the Data Elements

As part of the HR Systems group, participated on the SWAT Reporting team to
identify improvement opportunities for Report Builder. RB is part of the EES HR
portal (Employee Self-Service - HR Application) used by all the busineses to
report on Employee information, Salary, Benefits, Performance evaluations, Global
Population, Strategic Planing.
Interviewed several key HR Directors from UTC Corporate, Pratt & Whitney,
Hamilton Sundstrand, Carrier, Sikorsky, Otis, Fire and Security. Meetings and
minutes helped in gathering and defining business requirements and
priorities.During the process collected/analyzed several Business Objects
Universes and Reports that the different businesses used instead of Report
Builder.
Documented key aspects of the RB system (Replication, Report Scheduling,
Report Generation) by using Java style design patterns. This facilitated the

Evaluated the possible sustutitution of the existing reporting enviroment
with Business Objects and/or SQL Services. Stablished a POC environment using SQL
