• Converted a manual sales reward system for GNC franchisees and vendors to an
automated system that utilizes accurate pricing and sales data. Interfaces with
the accounts payable and accounts receivable systems to provide quick
reimbursement and billing. This new system added considerable flexibility in
the types of promotions that could be offered by the vendors. The accuracy and
accessibility of the data improved the relationship between GNC and its franchise
operators and vendors.
• Project Lead for a two-year replacement project to convert a legacy IMS and
CICS system with a Control II inventory management system utilizing Windows front
end to define product, customer and vendor data, capture/calculate distribution
center inventory levels, vendor purchases and store/customer orders. The new
system saved the company $66,000 a year in maintenance costs and it provided
powerful data analysis for GNC users.
• Instructed an IMS class for 9 programmers to develop the skills needed for an
upcoming project.
• Provided ongoing overview training in a group setting for the logistics
programming team. Training covered applications that we were responsible to
support.
• Implemented an Internet based product ordering system allowing franchisees
from 29 countries to order product from domestic based distribution centers while
tracking product registration/orders, allocating real time inventory and deciding
best shipping methods.
• Provided on call support for warehousing, franchising, purchasing and
transportation.

• Converted a basic vendor programmed convention pre-ordering system to an
in-house, Internet-based system. Directed software vendor activity to improve
pre-existing registration and ordering system accuracy though utilization of FTP
and XML to pass enterprise data to the convention ordering/registration system.
This new system improved operational efficiency and increased the amount of
pre-convention ordering from $1.4 million to $4 million in the first year.
