Public Schools for Cooperative Research Institute(University of Tennessee at
Knoxville) - During the school year of 1965, I attended a two week
institute aimed at training school personnel for leadership roles in innovative
school programs.
Washington University Elementary Social Studies Curriculum Project (1969-71) -
This project used a team approach to write, analyze and revise new social studies
curricula materials for elementary classrooms.
Webster College Upward Bound Project (1970-71 - Upward Bound was an effort to
strengthen inner city youth academically and to motivate them to enter and
succeed in college.
Herzog In-Service Project (1971-73) - As a clinical instructor at Washington
University, I worked with the Herzog Teaching Center. My duties involved
providing in-service training to teachers with a focus on the improvement of
classroom instruction.
Field Experience Program (1973-74) - I coordinated field experiences for the
Department of Education of Rutgers College. Education majors were provided with
pre-student teaching experiences in classroom settings.
Urban Anthropology Program (1978-80) - The Urban Anthropology Program involved
the development of anthropological curricula and field experiences for seventh
and eighth graders who used the city (St. Louis) as a classroom.
City Days and City Ways (1978-1980) (A cultural journal project) - As a lead
instructor for the Urban Anthropology Program, I initiated and developed a
cultural journal which contained ethnographies written by students.
Special Projects
Desegregation Programs - (1980-83) A colleague and I were responsible for
evaluation of court ordered desegregation programs in the St. Louis Public
Schools.
Self Employment Training Program (1991) - While with Partners for Economic
Progress, I implemented an entrepreneurship program designed for business skill
development leading to the writing of start-up business plans.
Grant Writing (1994-96) While with the Chattanooga Housing Authority, I wrote
successful grants including a Weed and Seed Grant for the Westside Community
of Chattanooga.
Southeast Industrial Development Association (SEIDA) (1998 – 2005) – I
maintained a web deployed database of industrial sites and buildings and engaged
in varied marketing activities for the Association.
