Texas Instruments 
Engineering Program Manager 
2007 - Present

Drive Engineering Programs, including Supplier Quality and Contract Services,
Data Communications, Cost Engineering and Financial Planning, Equipment Process
Yield and Energy Efficiency. Manage, control, coordinate and execute major
projects. Negotiate program requirements and integrate into a management plan
utilizing structured techniques such as Earned Value Management. Review project
progress and assess risks and necessary contingency plans. Measure performance
against schedule and cost goals and take necessary corrective action to
accomplish agreed upon program milestones. 
 *  Initiated internal and supplier cost reduction activities during past year
that resulted in $31.5M in budget savings across all fabrication sites.
 *  Drove in-line yield loss to less than 50% of historical trends.
 *  Reduced engineering support required by 12,000 hours through FMEA and Blitz
techniques.
 *  Served as Chair for the Engineering Council and the Cost Steering team. 
 *  Led the corporate Energy Efficiency team. 
 *  Completed in-house development of 45nm technology and then transferred to
off-shore foundries while maintaining qualification schedule. 

Development Engineer
2003-2007 

Developed 65nm and 45nm semiconductor technology. Led team of engineers and
technicians to seamlessly integrate development toolsets and processing into a
large-scale production environment. Managed multi-million dollar capital and
operational budget while setting and meeting aggressive technology goals.
Coordinated all major acquisition projects and presented status updates to
management and business units. Ensured that development programs were on schedule
and within budget. Identified technology risks, developed contingency plans and
verified that customer commitments were met. 
 *  Negotiated, selected, installed and qualified all first generation equipment
for latest technology nodes. 
 *  Coordinated development quality audit activities and performed supplier
quality audits on all suppliers chosen for development initiative.
 *  Achieved record development cycle times while establishing 65nm processing
in our 200mm fab and 45nm processes in our 300mm fab.
 *  Released 65nm technology node to production and achieved production
qualification ahead of schedule. 

Engineering Section Head
1996-2003

Directed the Diffusion, Implant, Chemical/Mechanical Polish and Surface Prep
production engineering groups in Texas Instruments new research and
productization facility. Set module operations direction for engineers and
technicians. Created and managed a multi-million dollar annual budget.
Represented Texas Instruments during internal and external audits of our quality
control and documentation programs. Developed, controlled, managed and executed
project milestones and budgets for Kilby Fab startup. Created technical
specifications for and negotiated the purchase of new capital production
equipment and new supplier support contracts.
 *  Started Kilby Fab operations within budget and on schedule, including the
first copper production.
 *  Built and developed the engineering team (engineers and technicians) from
the ground up.
 *  Qualified 130nm, 90nm and 65nm technology ahead of schedule.

Texas Instruments Defense Systems and Electronics Group  *  Electro-Optics 
Operations Manager 
1992-1996

Managed components fabrication and assembly operations within the Texas
Instruments Detector and Emitter Products group. Set aggressive operational goals
and met those goals through improved production techniques and engineering
enhancements. Established Continuous Flow Manufacturing (same principles as Lean
Manufacturing) throughout operations. Set and met aggressive budget goals for the
organization. Provided technical presentations on the department  's capabilities
to existing and prospective customers.
 *  Won a critical TOW missile contract through unit cost reductions.
 *  Realized the best profits ever for the Department through yield improvements
and cycle time innovations.

Engineering Lead 
1989-1992

Led process engineers and technicians in the fabrication and assembly of
Infrared Detector systems and Focal Plane Array components at TI. Engineering
group provided technical support for front end chemical processing, thinfilm and
thickfilm operations, electroplating and backend assembly (wirebonding, epoxy
mount, laser welding, heat treating and vacuum technology). Doubled size of
engineering staff through targeted industry and new college hires. Established
new process technologies, including multi-layer ceramic fabrication and dewar
miniaturization.
 *  Reduced customer returns and unit cost while increasing throughput and yield
with existing resources.
 *  Received Technical Excellence Award from the Central Research Labs for
development of new, ultra-compact dewar (code name PIPIR).
