On a contract assignment to provide temporary support activities for one of the
largest annuity providers (for non-profit organizations) using COBOL, IMS DB/DC,
DB2, OS/2, Smart-Test. Performed analysis, design and programming for a system
providing retirement checks, lump sum distributions and other disbursements to
customers.
EXXON COMPANY (CONSULTANT) – Houston, Texas
April 1985 – April 1995
On a contract assignment at one of the world’s largest oil companies, performed
analysis, design, programming, and (MFS, PSB, and DBD gens) of a Systems
Architecture Utility Software package that is part of a Production, Revenue and
Lease Settlement project. Used PL/1 language because of its superior programming
capabilities which proved to be the best choice to operate in the IMS DB/DC
environment I helped to create. The front-end of the system was written in
ASSEMBLER. The system provides a familiar look and feel, similar to ISPF, to the
end-user; and like ISPF, the users can traverse multiple layers of menus/screens
and do multiple functions from any point in the system. On most screens in the
system, the users can map their own meanings into the PF keys. Also, certain
profile information can be retained (based on Userid), and similar to ISPF, the
users can set their own JCL parameters (Job Cards, etc.) for job submission from
the on-line system.
Did analysis, design, programming and supported on-line and batch programs to
implement this System Architecture in Division Order, Division of Interest and
Royalty Accounting systems.
On a Gas Accounting system, did analysis, design/programming, and developed
on-line exit modules, ISPF dialogues and REXX execs to maintain approximately 140
tables. On various systems, have used IBM MVS, VM/CMS, PL/1, COBOL, COBOL-II, IMS
DB/DC, DB2, ISPF Dialog Manager, and REXX.
* Designed, programmed, tested and documented a series of Pointer based Utility
Interface modules, which serve as the foundation for a System Architecture. The
Architecture allows users in a IMS DB/DC environment to navigate similarly to the
way it appears in ISPF.
* Redesigned the “Division of Interest” database resulting in reduced storage
costs and an annual savings of approximately $100, 000.
* Developed a Gas Well Information system in ISPF and REXX to utilize a series
of Online Tables.
* Ensured a responsive information technology team by interfacing with end-users
to determine their needs and implement changes as needed.

acquisitions. The second application was a drilling activity reporting system
used to observe operations data on production wells. Also developed 20 COBOL
programs for a Royalty Revenue project.
* Participated in the conversion of 20 FORTRAN programs from CDC to IBM.
Designed and developed a menu-driven ISPF application system to run engineering
applications under VM/CMS using ISPF. The system had 30 dialogues using FORTRAN,
PL/1 and Dialog Manager.
