Advisor
Served as Quality Assurance Team Lead for the Texas Automated Vehicle Inspection
System, under development for the Texas Department of Public Safety. Created
work break-down structure for the team and managed team’s progress. Developed
and executed test scripts in Rational TestManager. Entered defect reports in
Rational ClearQuest. Generated project defect lists and represented QA in
Release Team meetings.
Designed and implemented tests for the new Pin-less Debit feature of ePay, the
electronic payment system used by the state of Texas for driver’s license
renewals and other online transactions at Texas Online
(http://www.texasonline.com), the official portal of the state of Texas.
Developed and executed an automated java test suite, using jUnit, for the
Driver’s License Authentication feature of Texas Online.

Contract Software Quality Assurance Engineer
Developed and executed test scripts, in Rational TestManager, for a local
software company that aggregates data for the automotive industry. Wrote defect
reports and queries, in Rational ClearQuest. Validated fixes as they were
incorporated. Wrote and executed database queries, on Oracle databases, using
Quest Toad.

Established and managed a Missouri Fox Trotting horse breeding operation.

Technical Consultant
Led the test effort for the original online factory outlet of a major computer
manufacturer. Created a set of system test procedures, and supervised their
execution. Developed and ran automated test cases, in Load Runner, for
performance testing. Reviewed code, written in Java.
Designed the user interface for an internal web-based tool, used to manage
project process assessments. Installed the .NET platform and wrote code in C#.
Managed the development of the internal business software infrastructure for a
state agency that handles municipal retirement programs. Reviewed business
cases, as well as extensive requirements analysis, documented in UML. Reviewed
code written in Java for the IBM WebSphere platform.
4/98 – 4/2000 Renaissance Worldwide / Sterling Information Group, Austin, Texas
Technical Consultant
Designed an IT community web site for a local start-up company. Created
reusable templates and prototyped the major functionality as proof of concept.
For a mid-size company’s web site, developed the membership services framework,
controlling user access to various areas, via on-line registration and group
membership. The framework was created with Microsoft Site Server Personalization
and Membership, using Active Server Pages, Internet Information Server, and SQL
Server.
Completed an intranet site for the training department of a large corporation.
The site helps executives to design their own professional development programs.
Planned, managed, and contributed to the development of a web store front for a
publicly held software company. Rapidly created prototypes using Microsoft Site
Server Commerce Edition. Selected and integrated the third-party components and
services necessary for a professional e-commerce web site, including tax
calculation, export control, credit card processing, fraud detection, and
fulfillment messaging, as well as electronic soft goods delivery.
Served as member of the Software Engineering Process Group and as a Process
Mentor.
1996- 1998 Vignette Corporation, Austin, Texas
Manager, Quality Assurance
Staffed and managed Vignette’s QA team from its inception. Managed both the
testware development and test execution efforts through the first three major
releases of the StoryServer product. Evaluated automated testing tools,
including WinRunner and Segue Silk. Designed and implemented a multi-platform
(Solaris and NT) test harness, in Perl, to control the execution of all automated
tests. Developed both manual and automated test scripts.
1995 -1996 EDP, Austin, Texas
Contract Programmer
Led a team designing and implementing testware for the Tandem Integrity S4000
Service Processor (SP). Drove the creation of a general test strategy and
infrastructure that set the standard for all software produced by the department.
Worked with the SP developers to determine test requirements. Interfaced between
test team and management, negotiating for required resources and reporting test
development status.
1987 – 1995 IBM Corporation, Austin, Texas
Senior Associate Engineer
Designed and implemented diagnostic software and firmware used to bring up IBM’s
RISC System/6000 Fibre Channel high-speed interconnect adapter. Received
Management Appreciation Award when IBM’s multi-million dollar bid, which included
Fibre Channel Adapters, was accepted by the IRS. Adapted code for use in
hardware system test and manufacturing test as well as field diagnostics.
Completed all milestones on or ahead of schedule. Received Team Award for
contributions to final product. Added enhancements to the existing AIX device
driver for IBM RISC System/6000 Ethernet adapter. Discovered, investigated, and
corrected several defects in the original driver.
