OBJECTIVE:
To obtain a position that will offer opportunities for professional growth while
utilizing my analytical and computer skills to build upon my experience.
SKILLS: Computer Science: DOS, UNIX, (some AS400),WIN95, NT, Outlook, Pearl
(limited), FORTRAN, Java2EE (C, C++, Languages stressed heavily as part of major)
Pascal, Java Script, Soft Ware Engineering (Including all aspects of the
software life cycle) (Currently learning SQL, primary focus, determining one to
one and or one to many table relationships, select and query statements as well
as pivot tables), Apache Tom Cat, HTML, Web INF- XML configurations,JDBC, EJB,
JSP, functional understanding of Struts
My C++ and Unix experience was obtained as part of Computer Science Minor
(1998-2001)
Working on a SCO UNIX Platform,I have over three semesters of programming
experience. I was required to write no less than eight programs a semester. The
understanding of Unix system commands
came as a necessary vehicle to program in the SCO Unix environment.
Brain Bench Certified: as proficient in C++ and Java Script (Winter 2007)
Area of strength in C++
Class definition (base classes –derived, i.e. inheritance), Polymorphism,
Encapsulation
Objects-(method implementation), Method overloading, Dynamic Memory manipulation
(pointer management )
Typecasting
Telecommunications: 1.5years of Assembling servers, writing shell scripts,
designing diagrams for LANS, using Visio, studying TCP/IP, general networking
schemes, UNIX, DHCP, DNS, Switches and Routers for the purpose of monitoring a
LAN designed to support e-commerce functionality.
Business: Six Sigma Analysis, Project Management, Sarbanes- Oxley, Effective
Time Management
Mathematics: Pre-Calculus, Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III, Discrete
Mathematics, Differential Equations, Mathematical Set theory, Statistical
Methods, Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Numerical Analysis, and Abstract
Algebra
EXPERIENCE:
February 2008 to Present Hydril (a Subsidiary of GE ) (Sr. Web Applications
Developer/and Systems Analyst)
Duties: Database Design and code modifications. I used Java2EE in an Apache
TomCat Environment , along with SQL to design, gather reports from ,and
manipulate data base information.
Developed a strong understanding of how to use the Java JDK, configured in
TomCat to load various drivers for SQL based databases such as JD Edwards,
Oracle, and SAP,using the the Java
JDBC. In most cases form data from an HTML page was passed to a servlet. From
the servlet, using the
JDBC a connection to an SQl data base would be formed. The data would then be
passed on to the Data base
via an SQL query in the servlet, as in the EJB Java modle.
Used Java and Web Focus to write back ends to JD Ewards data bases, (housed on
a AS400) for the purposes of report writing .
Used Six Sigma Analysis to perform code reviews, implement Software Life Cycle
best practice methodologies, and perform regression, unit and system testing on
the code that I both developed and maintained.
July 2004 To December 2007 Present Step 2 Success Tutorial & Consulting Inc.
(Operations Manager) Pearland, TX
Duties: Designed Business/ Market Analysis Plan using Microsoft Project to
identify and organize like task of similar deliverables. By understanding the
capabilities of Microsoft Project, I was able to design a well defined Gant chart
that allowed Step 2 Success Tutorial & Consulting Inc to stay on track as it
concerns business development.
Product Development (Responsible for market and risk analysis that helped to
decide what type of tutorial programs we developed)
Marketing (Responsible for increasing market share by correctly analyzing the
correct target audience given company size)
Curriculum Design (Responsible for creating up to date curriculums in science,
English and Reading comprehension, mathematics including Calculus, and training
in Computer Programming, languages stressed C++, and C ,strong emphasis on
control statements, loops, and abstract data types)
Resource Development and Personnel management ( Responsible for training program
for all employees)
WEB Presence ( Responsible for web site design( Web site designed to gain market
share through E-commerce presence)
Major Technology platforms used Unix (C Shell, Emacs, VI)
Sept. 01 DuPont To July 2004 Wilmington, DE
Technology Transfer Analyst Assignment 1 (1.5years)
Duties: During this co-op, my accountabilities included the following: Learned
and implemented best practice methodologies involving value extraction and the in
and out licensing of DuPont intellectual property.
DBA of a knowledge management relational database.
Used the database to direct our technology transfer efforts to research and
development organizations.
Conceptual design and upgrades. During this assignment my primary role as the
System Analyst/ Project Manager was to collect parameters for the design team and
then decide upon the best way in which to implement the data base mentioned
above.
In addition to conceptual design, I was also responsible for regression, unit,
and system testing of said data
base; this allowed my team to hold down cost, as large parts of the code build
was outsourced.
Other duties included using Six Sigma and statistical analysis to decide the
proper tech transfer activities
our group should be involved in and fostering collaborative relationships
between DuPont, Research
Universities, and National Research labs
Major Technology platform used ( Java Script, HTML, Access, SQL, )
Systems Analyst (IT Takes Control) DuPont’s Sox 404 Program Assignment 2
(1.5years)
Duties: Implement and maintain key in house software platforms
Used Statistical methods to perform Risk analysis of DuPont Information
Technology Resources
Used Six Sigma Analysis to reduce redundancies in work flow processes
Implement systems controls to ensure that the DuPont IT environment is
Sarbanes-Oxley complaint.
During this assignment, I used Visio to design work flow charts
From these charts we were able to prioritize which task were critical, clearly
define time lines, determine the scope of work needed to be done, and define all
deliverables as well as all critical paths.
As part of the change management control system, I helped implement web based
surveys which helped our team collect data that helped us decide the best type of
controls to implement. Because DuPont is rather large and has global interest,
this project was split among several regions. I was the Project Manager for two
regions, responsible for both the US region and Asia Pacific. As such, I was
responsible for getting these tasks done by managing a set of global team
members. Specific task included determining work flow processes, making sure that
both regions clearly understood the scope of the project, managing the day to day
operations of said project for both regions, and using test cases to verify
proper functionality of said controls that we put into place. Other duties
included coordinating and performing network scans, as well as placing this
information into one easily maintained web enabled relational database.
Major Technology Platforms used (SAS, Access, SQL)
Summer’99 TEXAS UTILITIES (TXU), Dallas, TX
To Summer 2000 Dr. Emmett J. Conrad Program (Sponsored by State Senator Royce
West)
Internet E-commerce Developer 2000
Duties: As an internet programmer I worked on a project TXU denoted EBPP
(Electronic Bill Payment Services).
While assigned to the project, my duties included:
Developing test scripts and coding in Java Script. I developed Java Script code
that performed data validation on a set of variables before being sent to a
servlet and passed on to a database query.
Other duties included performing regression test on the application in which I
help to write. I was able grasp the concept of using scripting languages such as
Java Script to make HTML code interactive.
Managed a small team that developed a working striped down Prototype of said web
portal (used for demonstration purposes to our client). This meant that I had to
train that team on all aspects of the software life cycle because the prototype
had to fit the design specs determined by our client. Thus, I had to use my
Project Management skills to correctly collect the specs needed to design the
prototype, set deliverable time schedules for the prototype to be finished,
correctly analyze design specs such that the prototype had correct functionality,
as well as determine the appropriate personnel to delegate specific portions of
both the prototype build and the unit and system testing of said prototype.
